That’s a huge scam. Same with the water. I can’t bring the water through security, (even if it is in an unopened bottle), but I can immediately purchase that same water once I’m THROUGH security. So…if I were to make an explosive that needed water, I’d have it on the plane. It just makes zero sense. Oh, and now I hear you can take a water bottle through security IF that water is FROZEN. Really? How insane is this?
One of our “war ships” docked near my home and offered tours. In line to board, we were informed that knives of any sort, even a tiny pen knife, was forbidden. So, back to the car (a 10-minute walk one way), back to the boarding line and up the gangplank. One of the first places they showed us was the canteen where, for $10 I could (and did) purchase a 4-inch folding knife emblazoned with the ship’s name. I carried it throughout the entire tour.
A couple years ago, at a major airport, they had a kiosk at which you could mail home items that do not pass TSA inspection. The problem was that the kiosk was located inside the terminal after the inspection points.

Can’t you just wait till you arrive in the next city and buy the items at a drugstore? Then store them in your luggage not the carry on.
