I saw 18 degrees at first look and mostly cloudy. They say some sun in the morning (when I see it) and getting cloudier this afternoon, high 36.
I am ready for the big day, I don’t wrap any more I use gift bags. yah I know, it’s cheating. (^.^)
I’m not the cook but I do gather what is needed as the shopper. Andy is a trained cook but back problems keep him from working in a restaurant kitchen but, we get a good meal every Sunday, and holidays.
Have a great weekend Vagabonds, may the Lord bless you and yours.
I have the Christmas menu planned but I haven’t been shopping yet. I’ll gather the ingredients either today or tomorrow. Stopping at the market on the way home from church seems to be most efficient. The best part is that it’s a slow-cooker meal so once I’ve cut up the veggies it will be a few hours before anything else is required.
We’ve been lax on watching holiday movies this year. I’m thinking of spending the next two days binge watching them. We must have a half dozen versions of “A Christmas Carol”. Then there’s “Miracle on 34th Street” (Maureen O’Hara version, of course. And not colorized.) and “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I might be busy for 2 or 3 days, but oh that sore derriere!
I happened to walk into the living room this morning when the sunshine coming through the front window was shining just right on the tinsel garland. The ceiling above and the wall behind the tree were covered with sparkly reflections. I took photos, but I don’t think they give the display justice.
The rain is gone, though the eaves were still dripping this morning. It did rain off and on all day, so the Weather Channel was wrong. Today it’s 54 on its way to 64 with blue skies and sunshine. The streets have all dried out but the roof is still dripping occasionally.
It was thirty upon first look but the lack of light prevents me from eyeballing the weather. Mainly cloudy with snow showers this morning, high 38.
Watched Dick Van D"s 98th Birthday special we recorded Friday night, yesterday. It was very good and they took old Dick totally by surprise, he said he thought it would be just an interview but he got a Broadway show. In the first part of the show Dick was sitting in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, what a car, later on he was sitting on a couch. Once in a while they would do a close up of him and he would be singing along with the song. I have always liked watching his work in comedy and in drama.
Sunday, go to church, we’re having pork chops for our meal then a lazy afternoon and then back to church for a Christmas Eve service.
Good morning, Vagabonds and Merry Christmas Eve. Hard to believe that tomorrow is already Christmas day and we only have another week of 2023 to go.
Church this morning was very good. We covered the second half of Acts 18 where Paul gave his message to the Athenians at the Areopagus (Hill of Ares or Mars Hill). We got a really good breakdown of what Paul was trying to tell the Athenians. Side note: In that “Drive through History” series I watched about Paul’s travels & activities, the host spent quite some time touring the ruins of the Areopagus in Athens. It’s quite a place.
I stopped at the store this morning to pick up what I need for tomorrow’s dinner. Once again I made the mistake of shopping hungry. I bought way too much. Oh well. We’ll eat it anyway, just not today or tomorrow. And, of course, I forgot one thing and discovered another once I got home. So it’s back to the store for me in a few minutes. (Heavy sigh)
I woke up to 40 degrees this morning and it was about 46 when I left for church. Warm enough that a long sleeved shirt was good and I didn’t need a jacket. We’re at 54 at the moment, on our way to 57 with blue skies and sunshine. We’re looking for high 50’s to low 60’s for the rest of the 10 day, with overnights no lower than about 42.
