I had an uncle once that surprised the family by saying he wanted to move up north. Come to find out what he meant was to Dallas. Texas is big.

I didn’t move south enough. It’s 42º here in North Fla.

I’ll take the winters here. Our summers are pleasant compared to Florida’s summers… they regularly have 90 degrees with 80% humidity, which pushes the dew point into the “intolerable” range. We only had two days last summer that required an air conditioner.

And worry if the power has gone out and your water pipes froze and burst? No thanks. I’ll stay up north here and dress warm and keep an eye on things.

Right now the idea of some coastal fishing is really appealing.

It has warmed up here in the ‘banana belt’ of The Great White North (Lower Mainland of BC)…it is only -10C now, this time yesterday it was -16C, and any where north and east from here was in the -30 range.

At this point anywhere that is above freezing is looking pretty attractive…

-1ºC with flurries today. Rising to 6 – 7ºC by the end of the week with rain and/or snow. High probabilities of 3 NewfieLabs running around in the snow and wet and 5 cats sleeping on heating vents, beds, under wood burning stove or on the hearth or in various laps as cicumstances dictate.

I remember 40 degree mornings in Tampa FL in the early 1960s. Riding a bike to school, no gloves and a windbreaker over a t shirt. Seemed awful. Thirty years later living in Corpus Christi, 40 degree mornings! My wife took the atlas out and explained we were just about level with Tampa. Rats

Pluggers don’t care about climate change. They plan to be dead.

Disregarding DNA, I would rather be in a cooler/cold area than some year round sun basket. Why? simple, one can always put on more clothes and/or build a fire. But when your sweating up a storm and haven’t moved while being totally uncovered, and the sea water is in the 80s, there’s not much you can do. Most don’t have AC since it is hardly needed and the so called swamp coolers are only decent as long as you can stay in their breeze. Yeah, I’ve survived in that environment.

Husband has been talking about moving away since we were young. First it was Lancaster, PA – a place that prior to Covid we used to visit several times a year every year since before we were married.

Then he decided on Williamsburg, VA as we like to go there due to an interest in history of the period and being 18th reenactors.

Then he decided we should move to Hagerstown, MD – why there? It is between the other two and has a really good 18th marketplace event in the spring.

I don’t plan on leaving here – until I am gone.
