If you want a boring answer … Nicholas of Myra’s feast day is December 6. It’s close enough to the date chosen for Christmas that the traditions of the two got melded. The stocking by the fire — Nicholas. The gift giving — Nicholas (although that’s also blended with the Magi bearing gifts for Jesus, but THAT feast day is January 6). People blend traditions all the time, and that makes for murky celebrations.
Well you see little girl, St. Nicholas and Santa are not the same thing. St. Nicholas was a real living human who came from a family of means. Instead of hoarding wealth, St. Nicholas was want to help others, the poor, the hungry and especially children. It was common for St. Nicholas to keep small candies and fruits and to give them to children to eats. That is why in much of the civilized world, St. Nicholas is revered and honored for his life of giving, and the gifts given in his name to children on December 6th, the Feast of St. Nicholas, are to honor that spirit
What you are incorrectly referring to as St. Nicholas is actually Santa Clause, and American Invention, designed to not only frighten children into behaving with the thought of a creepy old man and his minions watching each and every child 24/7/365 all the while putting them on a naughty or nice list, it is designed to increase profits by convincing children and adults alike that a good Christmas means an over abundance of spending mostly on unneeded things designed to temporarily satisfy their greed.
Once a year Santa commits a multitude of burglaries all around the world where upon forcing entry into homes thought the black arts of magic, he either leaves presents for good little boys and girls and coal for bad little boys and girls all the while extorting food and drink from each and every household that he visits.
First of all Santa is not Saint Nicholas. Santa is a creation of non-Christian religeous beliefs going by the name of The Great Retail and perpetuated by his minions…

The worship of Capitalism has long supplanted the true meaning of Christmas in particular and Christianity in general.
