Why do I feel like I miss so much in this strip?Isn’t Keratin something to do with hair re-growth??Is that supposed to be something about the Tortoise and the Hare?Help! All you wonderful Cave Dwellers!!!!(I promise I will figure this out tomorrow a.m., and not remember why I asked such a sill question tonight!)

Keratin is an extremely strong protein which is a major component in skin, hair, nails, hooves, horns, and teeth. But it apparently does nothing for John’s shell.

    Good Morning, Fellow Cave Dwellers!

You would’ve been just fine if you hadn’t rustled the bush, keratin or no keratin.

Looks like a shish-ka-tortoise. Go roast him like a marshmallow.

    Good morning, BCers

I knew they had a problem with rustlers in the Old West but I didn’t know it was that old.

In the case of the land turtles/tortoises, the shell is actually the spine and rib cage, fused together. I’ve seen the skeleton. A turtle’s shell is covered with skin, just as the legs, head, and tail are. If you cut a turtle, you’re cutting skin, not keratin. They feel it.
