My cats have differing styles. Colette will come into the bedroom and nuzzle me or walk on me, back and forth, until I get the idea. Raz will stay in the kitchen and sing the “All the Food Bowls Are Empty Blues”, one verse at a time, until I drag myself out of bed and find the cat food.
In the past, I had three very polite cats. When they were hungry, there was no caterwauling or pawing for attention. However, until they got fed, there would be a cat in my line of sight no matter where I looked or where I went in the house. I don’t think they saw me as prey but it did get my attention.
