I was wearing the bite suit as we were training with the department K9. We had the use of an old building that had a linoleum tile floor. The dog was supposed to do a building search and find me. I heard the handler saying per protocol that he was releasing the dog and could hear the dog coming through the building. When it came into the room I was in, I stood up and the dog began running for me. I sprinted out the side door just before the dog got to me. The dog slid on the tile floor trying to stop and crashed into a row of wall lockers. I was running across the building’s grounds and could hear the dog, which by this time was incredibly angry gaining on me.
It hit me just above the left knee, hyper extending the joint as well as side loading it. That tore the ACL and MCL and damaged the meniscus and synovial membrane. That required a large surgical repair involving cadaver parts.
The dog was so mad it began working its way up the bite suit and I stuck out an arm for it to tug on until the handler was able to get it calmed down and under control.
That dog was a great dog and had a great personality, but was all business when it came time to do his job and he did it well, albeit painfully for me and a few others.

It’s rather bad syntax to use the word “just” twice in the same sentence.

A dog on slick tile cost me a knee surgery.

Looks like Marm hit a patch of “black ice” on that wet floor and spun out. His only suffered the indignity of the moment.
