Don’t fall for that scheme, Mike—at least not before discussing it with Kim and Alex.

Hasn’t buying the assets of a failed company and selling them been around forever? Wouldn’t setting up websites have been a natural progression of this industry? Other than being a nice guy, why would Mike have pay them anything?

How does Mike not know he’s talking to his former half-brother-in-law?

It’s a weird world. I was trying to procure exotic electronic parts for a new project. I did not even know I was negotiating. When the vendor quoted me a price, I merely said “Really?” and he immediately offered me a 20% discount.

I lack the self-confidence to get the best deals. I just parted ways with a car that was beginning to run into too much money for necessary repairs. It still has much in its favor, and the repairman is sure someone will want it when it’s fixed, but it can’t pass inspection without a major investment. I thought maybe I could get more than what he offered from a local dealer, but meanwhile the starter quit, so the dealer (or anyone else) would have charged me to have it towed there and still not paid much. I left it at the repair shop and settled for the pittance, only clawing back half of the towing fee as a gesture toward saving face. Somehow I owed it to the faithful car to at least try a little…but in a small town you have to stay on good terms with your mechanic.
