just for reference purposes, there are an estimated 1.4 billion sparrows in the world. that’s just one passerine species. how they came up with the estimate for the number of birds cats kill is an interesting question (they hired private detectives to follow family pets?), but cats aren’t engaging in wanton slaughter of healthy birds for the simple reason that they can’t – it’s really difficult for a cat to catch a bird…
Bell the cat. Problem solved. My fat cat couldn’t catch birds to save his fluffy butt. He barely could catch mice and moles. My friggin’ Yorkie was a better hunter.I still miss the ol’ fluff ball three years on now.

I petted the neighborhood cat once, now it shows its appreciation by leaving dead birds on my walkway.

Mine doesn’t eat birds. He much too lazy. He hangs out by the bird feeder and eats voles attracted to the birds’ sloppy eating habits.

That’s what cats do, kill weaker creatures for no reason other than it’s in their nature…..

It’s estimated that cats kill 1.3–4 billion birds each year in the U.S. alone and over 20 billion worldwide.
Not for sustenance, just because that’s what they do!
We don’t tolerate cockroaches or rats, why do we put up with human caused cat vermin?
