Our parents would occasionally go out and leave us in the care of a “babysitter.” We hated that term: “We’re NOT babies!” We did our best to irk him/her, but as active children throughout the day, we usually fell asleep close to the proper time.

Grew up an Army brat, dad would often have a WAC do “babysitting” for us. They took zero guff.
