    Was yours that cheap?

Over 34 years ago, no church (no white dress either), reception at my parents’ house, no caterer (I used to make beautiful buffets, my mother did most of the rest), self-service,…

    Still it wasn’t that cheap.

48 years ago, 300$ (including the dress which she bought for 50$ at a wedding dress store going out of business sale)

I wonder if he’s trying to find a way to break the news that he saw Eliot wearing a dress.

That’s not a reason nor should it never be a reason. And he also needs to add a couple more zeros to that number…..

My third marriage cost us about $1500. No suits or fancy dresses, just family that got together to wish us well. Food was a barbecue with some side salads. Small wedding cake. Did all the favours and decorating ourselves. We had a grand old time. Had a honeymoon at Niagara Falls a few weeks later, traveled by bus and stayed outside of downtown. Again, a grand old time on a budget.

My daughter is getting married in the fall, she wants a barn wedding. One place wanted $16,000 for the space, no food or anything else, just rental of the space. We managed to find someone more reasonable and she’s happy.

We paid our part of each of our 3 sons’ weddings. I’m not going to say everything was split down the middle since each side paid for different parts of the entire weekend and even the days before. Times have changed and that’s the way it should be.

You’ll spend more than that on the increased car insurance when he hits 16.
