Good job, Ben. Liv is thrilled. She is your Valentine, and you are hers. What wonderful presents of heartfelt sentiment has she bought for you? I have always thought it goes both ways.
Valentine’s Day was a big deal holiday when I was growing up. Dad generally worked late, but would be home for dinner on Valentine’s Day and have chocolate hearts for us (3 daughters plus wife) – generally he would have gone to his client who had a card shop that day.
At one point when I was in college or grad school (future) husband was there was dinner with us. I opened my Valentine from dad and it said something I always thought was true, but could not imagine he would write in card (or even say to me) “you are my favorite daughter”. As I looked at the card the thought came to me (dad and I tended to think alike much of the time) and I asked one of my sisters to see her card. She hemmed and hawed so I asked the other one and she did too. He had written in all three cards “you are my favorite daughter”!
Now, with my husband – it has taken me decades to convince him that, despite what is shown in TV and movies, when I say that I don’t want any gifts I actually mean it. So Valentine night we went to the same restaurant we go to on Wednesday nights for dinner out. (Since we had started eating out again since Covid we go out midweek when the place is relatively empty instead of on the weekend when it is crowded.) NO gifts. Ahhh, the perfect gift.

I buy my chocolate at Aldi’s, but Giordello’s is good, too.

One stop shopping, you can get all of that at the local gas station! And right up until the day before. (I’m kidding, really)

I prefer to not be in the line-up and order on-line.
