Getting philosophical here: The ‘present’, as we experience it, is probably the ~30 seconds leading up to current instance plus the ~30 seconds to come. I’m not trying to redefine the word, I am only thinking of what I feel as the present. Of course it can always support modifiers: the present minute, the present generation, or ‘in the present’ used to contrast historical times.
