I had a tabby cat who would walk with me in the redwoods. His camouflage was amazing. Out in the forest, with no undergrowth, I could call for him for several minutes and not notice he was six feet away until he moved his ears.
If he couldn’t see me, he would “answer up” when I called. If he could see me, he figured I should be able to see him and remained silent. Cats!
