Perhaps a saunter, or an amble; maybe even a traipse.

Perhaps Sammy should only cross the road at a deer crossing sign? >:-(

To rephrase a poultry-centric question: Why did the squirrel cross the road?

I taught my kids not to brake or swerve for squirrels. I’d rather they hit it than lose control of the car and get hurt themselves.

It’s not so much the dashing. The word “squirrelly” is from their habit of changing their minds four times while crossing a road.

He might wait until it snows, and then go dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh. Maybe I can write a song to go with that.

We have squirrels in our neighborhood that cross on the power lines, like circus performers.

The local squirrels use the overhead power and cable lines when they can’t reach another tree.
