When my cat is hungry, she looks in the refrigerator when I open the door. She knows that none of her food is kept in the refrigerator but it is a pantomine that she recognizes as effective.
If I’m not going to the refrigerator soon enough, she pats on cabinet doors, which I will open for her. I always think she is inspecting for prey; it takes me a couple of cabinets to figure out it is another version of the food pantomine.
