There’s a reason for that. The shirt with a hole fits and the snazzy ones are too tight.;-D

Shirts with holes and stains have a sort of historical and nostalgic value.

Who needs to look snazzy all the time? Comfort is often more important.

The t-shirt is most loved and worn out because it fits! When I retired I got rid of all of my button downs, cuffs, and dress slacks. Still have dresses for church but mostly opt for jeans and t-shirts or long sleeve pull overs and boots for winter, shorts and tees for summer.

It’s because you bought the “snazzy” shirts ten years ago when you were 15 pounds lighter and the t-shirt is really, really comfortable. :)

this is a bit morbid but I’ve been throwing out a lot of stuff like holey clothes. My daughter has pointed out if I don’t do it she will have to after I’m gone.

I reverse the ratio. It means I have t-shirts without holes. And the snazzy one might, I haven’t worn it in a while.

I wear a tee shirt daily. I keep the (older) ones with pockets for warm weather as I need the pocket to carry face masks as we still do so as some situations we feel more comfortable with same. In winter I wear my newer (but still years old) ones without pockets as I have my jacket pocket to use for same. If it is cold out I wear a sweatshirt over the tee shirt. I also wear jeans daily.

I even dressy tee shirts which can be worn with skirts or slacks to go to work, if I ever go out to work again (having clients mail me their info to do their books/taxes – at this point it is not Covid which concerns me – it the NYC subway which does).

A few years ago I was cold sleeping at night and nightgowns did work as they ride up and didn’t find pjs in my size. Then I had an inspiration. The tee shirts with those tiny holes around the neck which I had been wearing in the house only – and the jeans with knee holes with I had also been only wearing in the house – make great pjs.

Husband thought it a crazy idea and then he was freezing in his pjs which are lightweight fabric. He gave in and tried one of my old tee shirts and a pair of my old jeans and now he often borrows same in winter to stay warm.

Advantage of aging – one decides comfort over fashion and feels comfortable doing so.
