My mum used to say “An fauler Esel draigt sich uff oimol d’s daod” / in propper German: ein fauler Esel trägt sich auf einmal zu Tode = a lazy donkey carries himself dead in one go (or something like this). She usually said that if I tried to carry all the dishes at once from the dining table back to the kitchen, rather than take less but carry it safely.
