The Boondocks by Aaron McGruder for May 22, 2009
Transcript:
Editor's note: For the select few who are not daily readers of the comics, "The Boondocks" has been indefinitely replaced by the uproarious fun of "the adventures of flagee and ribbon." Ribbon: Hey, flagee, I heard someone on the radio say that if we kill innocent people, we're no better than the terrorists. Flagee: That's left-wing, radical-hippie-communist thinkin', ribbon. You talk like that again, I'll have to drag you out into the street and shoot you myself! Ribbon: Yes, flagee.

I think I’ll stick with Non Sequitir for my political cartoons from now on. Wake me when Huey freaks out about a greeting card with white kids on it again.

This cartoon, unfortunately, reflects the type of simplictic thinking that makes meaningful political discussion possible. Even if you don’t agree with this position don’t you think Conservatives make a moral distinction between terrorists who premeditate to kill innocent people and those fighting an enemy who bring unfortunate casulty to innocent citizens? I know it is much easier to portray those you disagree with as flagee - simplistic morons who want to intimidate anyone who disagrees. But really, who is the real biggot here? I think it is McGrunder.

I blame Grampa. He’s the one who slept through that announcement about the fourth amendment, a while back.
