Caesar: Look at what my uncle sent me. It's the very first issue of "black lightning." Still in mint condition. In fifty years, I might be able to buy lunch.
Huey: Clearly, we as a people need to do a little better with our heirlooms.
How about Hulk Annual #1? The first appearance of Wolverine. Back in the day that was worth quite alot. Haven’t collected in years, but I figure it must be worth much more today than it was then.
When I was in the hospital as a kid, some dude gave me a huge pile of his comic books. Some were old and some new, mainly Legion of Superheroes. When I got back home my cousin was going through them and found Marvel Premiere #47. Which was the first appearance of Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. I thought it would be worth a whole lot of money one day and hid it somewhere in the house, but I forgot where I hid it. That was nine years ago; I still can’t find it to this day. It’s only worth like two bucks.
The first appearance of Wolverine was Hulk #181 (though technically, he had a cameo in #180). That should still worth a lot by collectors even if it’s not in near-mint condition.
Generally speaking, anything from the 80’s and later wouldn’t be worth as much as stuff from before. Unless you find a specific collector willing to pay as much, most retailers will only pay $5-10 for a long box of them.

How much is it really worth? I have Wolverine #1. Not in mint. Not worth over $30.

That’ll buy lunch practically everywhere but NYC.

I’m so clueless about comic books that I didn’t even know they were minted (rather than printed). I thought that was only coins.
