My dad had a life long friend who was a Liberal. That was in the days when you didn’t let politics get in the way of a good friendship. He used to joke that his friend would vote Liberal if they ran a hound dog. And I am sure his friend gave back as good as he got. That’s what friendship is about. If you think about it a dog would be more loyal than most politicians of any leaning.

There are cities, small ones, that have had a dog for a mayor.

Talkeetna, Alaska, had Stubbs the cat as mayor for twenty years, until he died in 2017. We saw him when we were there in 2008.
