This is kind of an east coast breakfast, even though I am a west coaster. Fried egg sandwiches, with or without bacon or Hempler’s ham, along with hashbrowns and homemade bread for toasting. I have fresh strawberries from our own patch. I can also make smoothies. with fruit, non fat yogurt and fruit juice.
That really takes me back, Cleo. My Dad took fried egg sandwiches to work for lunch for forty some - odd years. He still loves them!
I’ll have a smoothie, thanks.
He really does sound like Simon - but then a salami with a glove? Now that is freaky!
Good morning all. I have the night off so I haven’t gone to sleep yet. I work nights so I sleep during the day. Trying to sleep nights when I’m off really messes me up.
Cleo may I have a smoothie? Maybe two? I love them. Preferably NOT with licorice.
JFri That was a great party and a lot of fun.
cleo - How is Hempler’s ham different from other ham? Are fried egg sandwiches like a plain omelet, or is the yolk & white separated? The bacon & homemade bread toasted sounds yummy!
RRAmom - When I make a fried egg sandwich, I fry the egg, but break the yolk after I have added it to the pan. Hempler’s is a local meat company. Theur ham, bacon and sausages are superb. Their bacon is has so little fat, that when you fry it you need to add oil because no grease is created when frying it. Their ham has no water added. When you buy one of their hams the bone is still in it and it adds so much flavor.
Wow, I didn’t think Dusty could pull it off. Woof, mad dog alert!
Good Morning Le Tribe!
I woke up late and I’m still really tired. I saw some of West Side Story with my girls last night. Don’t think I will be on much today unless I start feeling better. PTL for the weekend!
Thanks for the info on the fried egg sandwiches. I’ve heard of a scrambled egg sandwich (although I let it cook more like an omelet so it doesn’t fall out while I’m trying to eat it) and adding sausage or bacon, but adding mustard, hot sauce or ketchup is new to me.
cleo - Bone-in ham is the best! My dad used to raise hogs when I was a kid. We like to throw a bone-in ham in the crockpot for so many hours the ham falls off the bone. Delicious!
Have I mentioned that my wife and I have become salt lovers. I never used salt, but now with dinner we have a salt server and have four different salts to choose from. Just a tiny sprinkling can make an incredible difference in flavor.
Dry I am absolutely miserable at golf!! Joy, I thought you were on the Black Raven? Ohhhhh, wait! That IS your own bed now, huh? What a smooth devil that pirate must be!
Morning all. I got up this morning and straited my hair now its Petty, and i washed two loads of close and dried and folded them. now i am wondering what is for lunch bc i have to babysit at 12:45 today it is now 11:13am sigh.
morning rmom and bmonk well i have to get off for a while need to find food. bbl peace and love. not sure what time i will get off form babysitting today… will talk more tonight.
akenta if i miss you, sorry and have a great weekend.
bmonk I always thought church nurseries ought to have the walls carpeted as well as the floors. Then if the kids fell and hit the wall, neither the wall nor the kids would get hurt. Plus, the carpet would help absorb much of the noise produced. Of course, hearing protection for the workers would be a nice touch.
bmonk - Read your comment & responded at Barkeater Lake. LOL!
I did much of the work on our deck here several years ago, but now that my knees are older, I try to restrict my work to waist level or slightly higher. I did install a railing a couple years ago - got tired of the iron deck furniture & BBQ grill blowing off when it got a little windy.
RRAmom- Your idea of being a little windy is far different from mine. I have this picture in my head of a big BBQ and heavy tables and chairs flying through the air. Then there are the tornados, where the house flies through the air. Those are the really windy days in your home town.
cleo - My husband & I had to laugh when my in-laws were visiting us one time (they lived in PA). It was a slightly windy day (gusts to 40-50 mph), and they thought for sure that it meant a severe storm was coming.
(This happened a different day) - They were with us (in a mobile home no less) when 90 mph straight-line winds came through, and blew all of our studs down on the house we now live in, which we were building. We had just finished framing the garage & first floor, and had planned on putting the trusses on the next day, but instead spent the day pulling nails, and re-framing it. Thankfully, only one board broke (it was 24’ long), so we didn’t have to do a lot of measuring & cutting, which made the re-framing go much faster. My FIL insisted we put hurricane-straps on to help keep the roof trusses in place, and when it gets really windy here, I’m glad I did! They probably wouldn’t be enough for a tornado, but it does help for the lesser storms.
An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat on tight so that it would not blow off in the wind.
A gentleman approached her and said: “Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?”
“Yes, I know,” said the lady, “I need both hands to hold onto this hat.”
“But, madam, you must know that your privates are exposed!” said the gentleman in earnest.
The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, “Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!”
Just popped in again to say hi to everyone. I have to work tonight [blahh] so I’m off to sleep for awhile. I’ll try to catch up before I leave but everybody talks so much it might take me until tomorrow. But I love it so don’t stop
The above joke reminds me of one time my husband was dropping me off under the canopy at our church. His best friend was inside, opening doors & greeting people. When I stepped out of our vehicle, a gust of wind blew my dress up to around my waist. Our friend said (with a smile) that it gave a whole new meaning to “dress up day”. I was definitely embarrassed, but at least it was that friend and not the pastor!
News report or joke?
Out in Kansas, tornadoes often hit with sudden devastation, and without warning. In one case, a house was completely whisked away, leaving only the foundation and first floor. A silver-haired farm lady was seen sitting dazed, in a bathtub, the only remaining part of the house left above the floor. The rescue squad rushed to her aid and found her unhurt. She was just sitting there in the tub, talking to herself.
“It was the most amazing thing … it was the most amazing thing.” she kept repeating dazedly.
“What was the most amazing thing, Ma’am?” asked one of the rescuers.
“I was visiting my daughter here, taking a bath, and all I did was pull the plug and dog-gone-it if the whole house didn’t suddenly drain away.”
Everybody knows about the Fujita Scale which measures the power of tornadoes. But nobody really knows what all those types of twisters do to COWS. So here is the MOOJITA Scale…
MOOJITA SCALE
M0 Tornado- Cows in an open field are spun around parallel to the wind flow and become mildly annoyed
M1 Tornado- Cows are tipped over and can’t get up
M2 Tornado- Cows begin rolling with the wind
M3 Tornado- Cows tumble and bounce
M4 Tornado- Cows are AIRBORNE
M5 Tornado- S T E A K ! ! !
A weather intern walks into a bar and asks for a Cold Draft. Suddenly the bar door swings open and gusty cool air fills up the bar. After drinking his Draft things seem to get back to normal. The guy then orders a Thunderclap on ice. Suddenly the roof gets pelted with hail stones and an intense lightning flash and thunderous explosion rock the bar. After drinking his Thunderclap things seem to once again get back to normal. Feeling rather good at this point he asks for a third drink- ordering a Tornado on the rocks. This time the bar is not only pelted with even larger hail stones but ferocious winds rip the door off its hinges, shake the bar violently and break every window. Feeling extra good and cocky at this point he then orders an extra large and extra strong Hurricane. The bartender after this request looks up at the guy perplexed and says, “Sorry fella, we have no Hurricanes in Kansas”.
Hello all.
Rmom, you have taken it upon yourself to get the comment count up with a number of hilarious jokes, I see, sorry I can’t contribute, I don’t know any tornado related jokes.
Well, it is the weekend now for me, and first things first: time for a nap, BBL.
Cleo: We went kayaking on Watson this morning at 7:00. It was a beautiful morning for it. We saw a young owl, cormorants, grebes, herons, coots, mallards, but no eagles today.
No weather related jokes, Rmom, but I did once hear about a new substitute teacher who was understandably nervous on her first day subbing in a first grade classroom. As she was introducing herself to the class, she backed into the map, which was one of those multiple maps you can pull down to show various continents. Hitting the map caused it to roll back up, and the passing of the several loose ends pulled her skirt above her waist.
After restoring order to the class, and thoroughly embarrassed, she was stammering through her name again, ending, “…and I hope to get to know you better.”
One cheeky kid immediately responded, “We already know you better!”
On the other hand, we do often speak of farmers ‘round here engaging in “field transfer.” The upwind farmer’s topsoil transfers into your fields; your topsoil transfers into the farmer’s fields downwind; his topsoil transfers…
Marg - With summer rapidly approaching, I would imagine most of your kayaking will be done in the mornings before it gets to hot. The best time to kayak on our lake is also in the morning. The lake is calm because the wind hasn’t kicked up yet and also the jet skis and wake boarders haven’t started up either. They can whip the lake into a frenzy.
Marg I love kayaking too, and, like Cleo we also see bald eagles and most of the other birds you mentioned. We have a double sea kayak so can go out on the ocean or lakes. Don’t know if I would feel very comfortable in one that could roll.
BMonk loved the description of “field transfer.” That happens often here in Canada on the prairies too.
Marg & Dawn - I have a sea kayak as well. Once a year I used to get together with a bunch of friends and go for a week. We would either go to a lake or somewhere on the sound and camp at a state park and do day trips. It was a lot of fun.
Yes, Marg, isn’t it fun to creep up through the reeds to see nests and ducks and ducklings? As well, we’ve gone out around some of the gulf islands camping in some of the provincial park camps away from everyone. It’s also great exercise!
Hey, JFri couldn’t you convince Hymie to come help clean?
cleo, Dawn & marg, kayaking *is* a lot of fun & a good way to get to otherwise inaccessible places! And it keeps my upper body in reasonable shape to play hockey.
JFri - Turns out a number of us Tribesters are kayakers. When you live up where I live you are exposed to a lot of outdoor activity possibilities, swimming, skiing, boating, hiking, mountain climbing, biking. It’s endless.
JFri - You are indeed a man of my true heart. Booker Noe’s is my favorite bourbon, so smooth you don’t even know that it’s going to drop you into an early slumber.
johnny, up here in the great NW, team sports take a back seat to all the other activities listed! That’s one reason I play hockey….it’s a winter sport!
Yeah JFri, soon I’ll be puffing on a Marlboro, drinking Booker Noes, driving down the road in a Ford F350, with a Smith & Wesson on my hip, looking for a 7-11 so I can also get a 6 pack of Corona, a bag of Tim’s Potato Chips and a pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit to prep me for the lunch at Chili’s as I ponder the heist at Bank of America.
JFri was talking about advertising jingles and I decided to do a little product placement to see if I could score a gig. #OBVIOUSLY I WAS FAR TO SUTTLE.
well i have to get off for a while i need to do work and see about supper. had a long day. may offer to by supper so i dont have to think about cooking anything. sigh i hate working….. well i like babysitting bc its not work but coming home is work. i have to go b4 he comes up front and sees me on here. he got home early. :( so im stuck doing work. bleeep the bad luck. peace and love all see you all later on.
Dry - I either can’t stay up late enough, or get up early enough to even post in the first hour. Of course, part of the problem is when I take out my contacts, I have a really difficult time focusing to read with my bifocals. So if I get up in the middle of the night, I can’t see well enough to read much.
You’re not alone in being one of the later-in-the-day tribe members.
Good night Rmom.Dry, for us east coasters, the change over is at 1:15ish maybe a little earlier, and I have made the first post before.
Cleo and JFri, over east, there is not a of mountains to climb, I have kayaked before, but don’t get a lot of opportunities to do that either, but with a number of wide open fields, I have no problem with all those sports.
good night you guys. i cant make it Dry i hope you can but i just cant do it im so tired. tomuch walking and kid chasing to try to make it till 12:15 my time. i am pooped. my eyes are shuting as im typing this and i still have to log off and shut down and walk to my bed which seems very far away. lol it is far. good night all peace and love.
I’m here, but I don’t think I can hold out! nodding off rather quickly! And remember what I said Cleo, if I don’t make it, I will another night! And if you wake me up tonite, “Dead man walking!” Now I know how doc feels!
Dry - Yes you can. Only a few minutes left. And the key at this time of night is to keep checking the cartoon. If it is yesterdays, the new day hasn’t started. If it is new post baby, post.

Cleo: We went kayaking on Watson this morning at 7:00. It was a beautiful morning for it. We saw a young owl, cormorants, grebes, herons, coots, mallards, but no eagles today.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
cleo I ran across some jokes about rain, and thought of you.
MotherOfMoses over 15 years ago
JFri, got your message at herb & jamaal. i just haven’ t been checking in. I am all right. just a little hot. in the 90’s down here.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
You’re welcome, Marg! I’m glad I’m not the only one who enjoyed them.
bmonk over 15 years ago

On the other hand, we do often speak of farmers ‘round here engaging in “field transfer.” The upwind farmer’s topsoil transfers into your fields; your topsoil transfers into the farmer’s fields downwind; his topsoil transfers…
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Marg - With summer rapidly approaching, I would imagine most of your kayaking will be done in the mornings before it gets to hot. The best time to kayak on our lake is also in the morning. The lake is calm because the wind hasn’t kicked up yet and also the jet skis and wake boarders haven’t started up either. They can whip the lake into a frenzy.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Marg - We have those same birds on our lake, I see bald eagles almost every day.
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Marg I love kayaking too, and, like Cleo we also see bald eagles and most of the other birds you mentioned. We have a double sea kayak so can go out on the ocean or lakes. Don’t know if I would feel very comfortable in one that could roll.
BMonk loved the description of “field transfer.” That happens often here in Canada on the prairies too.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Marg & Dawn - I have a sea kayak as well. Once a year I used to get together with a bunch of friends and go for a week. We would either go to a lake or somewhere on the sound and camp at a state park and do day trips. It was a lot of fun.
margueritem over 15 years ago
Dawn: I’m glad that you like kayaking, too. We can go so many places that you couldn’t go in a boat.

JFri, did you start your poker game already?
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Nooooooo, but I am* about to start drinking *rum & Cokes! Gotta finish cleaning the house first!
DawnAvril over 15 years ago
Yes, Marg, isn’t it fun to creep up through the reeds to see nests and ducks and ducklings? As well, we’ve gone out around some of the gulf islands camping in some of the provincial park camps away from everyone. It’s also great exercise!
Hey, JFri couldn’t you convince Hymie to come help clean?
cleokaya over 15 years ago
JFri - You are occupied in the same chore I am. I am planning the same conclusion as you too.
Akenta over 15 years ago
Good afternoon everyone. carmy hope you’re feeling better.
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
And I’m back! Where did everyone go?
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
cleo, Dawn & marg, kayaking *is* a lot of fun & a good way to get to otherwise inaccessible places! And it keeps my upper body in reasonable shape to play hockey.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
JFri - Turns out a number of us Tribesters are kayakers. When you live up where I live you are exposed to a lot of outdoor activity possibilities, swimming, skiing, boating, hiking, mountain climbing, biking. It’s endless.
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
My Father’s Day present from my son arrived just in time for tonight’s party! Booker’s True Barrel Bourbon, 126 proof!
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Same here, cleo! But you left out rock climbing, backpacking & SCUBA diving! So are playing cards tonight , too?
cleokaya over 15 years ago
good old doctortoon doing what he likes best; surrounding himself with women. Have a good one buddy.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
JFri - You are indeed a man of my true heart. Booker Noe’s is my favorite bourbon, so smooth you don’t even know that it’s going to drop you into an early slumber.
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
That was a good description, Cleo, is someone paying you?
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
When you listed outside activities, you left out all the sports: Baseball, basketball, football, tennis, soccer, et al.
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
johnny, up here in the great NW, team sports take a back seat to all the other activities listed! That’s one reason I play hockey….it’s a winter sport!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
johnnyd - That will be the day when someone actually pays me for something.

cleo, may be a whole new world for you….advertising jingles!
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
okay i am off now.. what do you think of my new pic?
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Yeah JFri, soon I’ll be puffing on a Marlboro, drinking Booker Noes, driving down the road in a Ford F350, with a Smith & Wesson on my hip, looking for a 7-11 so I can also get a 6 pack of Corona, a bag of Tim’s Potato Chips and a pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit to prep me for the lunch at Chili’s as I ponder the heist at Bank of America.

Actually, Dry, the only poker that I play is strip poker. And as you might assume, losing does not cause to much problem on my end.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
But, LOL, it does expose my end on occasion.

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
tabby I can’t really make out your new avatar very well. It looks like a cat, but that’s about all I can figure out.
owlsly over 15 years ago
hi cleo…hi dry…all is as well as can bee eggspected
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Dry - I either can’t stay up late enough, or get up early enough to even post in the first hour. Of course, part of the problem is when I take out my contacts, I have a really difficult time focusing to read with my bifocals. So if I get up in the middle of the night, I can’t see well enough to read much. You’re not alone in being one of the later-in-the-day tribe members.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Hi Owsley!
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
Well, at least I’m caught up reading this far on today’s posts. But I’m going to be heading to bed soon, so Good Night!

johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
Good night Rmom. Dry, for us east coasters, the change over is at 1:15ish maybe a little earlier, and I have made the first post before. Cleo and JFri, over east, there is not a of mountains to climb, I have kayaked before, but don’t get a lot of opportunities to do that either, but with a number of wide open fields, I have no problem with all those sports.
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
for me the time change is at 12:15 an hour from now. lol Dry if i can do it you can do it. go Dry
cleokaya over 15 years ago

Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo, since I’m a girl that would be a bit hard to do, don’t you think! And yes, you should be encouraging me! I can’t make it to 1:15 though!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo, did you catch JFri’s and my remark about your grill early this am? Citizen Dog?
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry - Yes you can. Only a few minutes left. And the key at this time of night is to keep checking the cartoon. If it is yesterdays, the new day hasn’t started. If it is new post baby, post.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
Cleo, You out there? Now who’s a whimp?
