Time now to unleash my big surprise for you all. Before I start, have some pancakes topped with blue berries and covered in rich maple syrup. With hash browns on the side and sausages too. Now let us all toast this special occasion using doc’s nuclear coffee of course. I want to give a toast to everyone here in the tribe. All of you caring people have made me and my dad feel welcome So to you all I send out hugs and kisses . This is a day that I celebrate and I choose to celebrate here at the Tribe under the Big Top. and now for the surprise.
The night was dark, perfect for what he was about to do. His name was Kyle Franks, He was a low class burglar. Tonight however he would strike it rich, raiding the Everin Family mansion.
Samson , a white Persian cat and his mate Delilah a Calico cat heard strange sounds from outside. Samson left Delilah’s side and climbed to the window sill to look outside. Someone was breaking in. He would make that someone regret it.
Delilah left her bed that was full of kittens to help her mate out. The burglar successfully pried opened the door only to get clawed in the eye by Samson. The burglar stumbled and shattered a mirror. ( That is seven years of bad luck).
Kyle Franks was not going to be made a fool. He began his work taking things of great value , like paintings, jewelery. and electronic equipment. He was unaware that Delilah was sneaking up behind him. Kyle tripped over her and landed on the hot wood stove
He screamed in agony which woke up the kittens, another mistake! They all came at him kittens and parents in full hissing fury.
This was a horrible nightmare come true. He was being clawed and bitten continuously. Kyle struggled to get to his feet. This house wasn’t worth it. He just wanted to get out alive. He brushed off the rest of the cat attackers and made his way to the door.
He thought that he was home free at last, until a black cat crossed his path. He ran with all his might , Right into a police car. Justice was served. THE END

Ladywolf, I enjoyed your story. Does this mean you’re going to post stories here as well as on Pibgorn? At least once in a while? I for one hope so. I just don’t have the time to read through every comic and I miss most of your stories. But I always make sure I have time to follow the Yappy Nuts here. Whatever you decide, thanks.
Cleo, may I have some ham, scrambled eggs and toast please. Also some juice. I’ve been a little afraid of Doc’s coffee since some of it melted my cup and dissolved a whole city block before it stopped.
BTW—Doc I still do not see the problem with the coffee. Has the military coffee numbed my coffee senses?
I think your coffee is great. I used to not be able to talk, look at me now. I can’t shut-up! LOL
I just thought for once to display my talent and give you all something to enjoy while your eating breakfast. You know I just felt the need to do something kind, and to start the day off right.
We enjoy you being yourself, guarantee that. Starting the day off right is in the eyes of the beholder. Relax a little!!!! We usually here or see things said the first time, after that it becomes numbingand posts get passed over.
This was probably just a one time thing. writing stories after all can be very tiring. Especially since I write only in the late evening hours. Well, I’ll see you all later.
ladywolf - I too like to write, although lately I have been doing less of it. I have a fantasy novel in the works, but I have not figured out a way to end the story yet.
Good morning Tribe!
Breakfast sounds great. I’ll have a little of everything. Who need to diet?
Ladywolf I too enjoyed the story - very apt, especially since so many of the tribe are cat owners. I also enjoy your stories on Pigborn.
Sorry, Cleo I missed your post. Now that you have time you should definitely complete it. Otherwise, you’ll always regret it. There are several sites online that recommend ways to get books published and lists of publishers.
BTW, I meant to tell you two (Doc/Cleo) yesterday that my first car was a ‘61 Pontiac Station Wagon and the rear seemed to be the size of a small motor home. LOL Lots of rumbling back there is I remember and not just from the muffler!
Yes, a tuxedo and an all black cat, both guys. The tuxedo enjoys being aloof, chasing squirrels and toy mice, and doing things to his kitty bed that are best not mentioned here (we call it his “happy dance”). The all black porker has lost 5 lbs, so he’s down to 16 lbs, and enjoys canned food, canned food, being outside when we’re there to monitor him, …and canned food. Did I mention that he likes food, even though he’s on a strict diet? He also has the loudest purr per pound that we’ve ever heard in a cat.
*dp - I had never heard the term “tuxedo” used in reference to a cat’s markings, but thanks to your picture, I understand. I had a calico with a white bib & boots, but she died over a year ago. My cats never got too fat, because we kept them on dry cat food. We owned cats to keep the rodent population down, and found that they were better mousers if they didn’t get canned food.
Thanks for the encouragement. Now I just have to come up with an ending, something I have been struggling with since I first started writing it, about seven years ago.
cleo - There’s just something about you struggling to come up with an ending, that seems ironic, since so many of your avatars have an “end” in plain sight. :)
In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have bared the problems with my book’s end. but I have been trying to get to the bottom of this problem for years now and that is the naked truth.
As I work on this problem, I will keep you abreast of the situation and will reveal when I shed some light on an answer. Until then I will have to just hang out and be the target as you crack your jokes. LOL
@cleo, are we the butt of this joke? Because, really, we have to end it before it goes too far. Otherwise, it will all hang out and will be fundamentally improper, especially where small children might see it and be scarred for life. It’s time to kick the can and put it behind us all. I feel I really must be stern with you about this.
Cleo and Bmonk I love it!
BMonk you have missed your calling You belong onstage at a comedy festival.
Cleo we know you’ll get to the bottom of it all.
*DP* the Tuxedo is really cute. Will you have the all black for a next avatar?
Well, once again RL calls. At least it’s not quite as hot here today.
BBL (I hope.)
Hi, Tribe… I don’t know who ticked who off, but Stripper77 on SOTU just mentioned about an hour ago that were commenters who took over Big Top and hijack other sites and then talk about having breakfast together..
Hi all, won’t here much from me this weekend, parents bought a new house that needs a LOT of work, that is where I’ve been the past few days, and will likely be the majority of the weekend.
P&L all, and see you Sunday (hopefully)
Done with the work. Now I’m off to the Univ of Illinois. Will be back much later. 2:45minute drive one way. Maybe I’ll be first in AM with breakfast! I skimmed over the recent posts and there are some jabs I need to throw out there but unfortunately I have to rush out. I’ll make up for it later! LOL
Gonna make my deposit for Owlsey and anyone else who needs one.
I heard something his morning about Canada having a long weekend, and sure enough I look on my calendar and Monday - Civic Holiday (Canada). So what exactly is a civic holiday, just a paid day off or something more?
im back for about 30 mins. maybe. and look i may have missed Akenta bleeep my luck
i will miss you all this weekend… but no need to worry i am not allowed to take the car this weekend so i most likely wont be driving. da rn my stupid luck. so whats the point of haveing a licens if i cant use it? fudge.
anyways. have a great weekend all im going make my laps then be back. in case i dont make it back in time… i most likely will… peace and love all.
Akenta Canada’s Civic Holiday (1st Sunday in August) was originally known as August Bank Holiday, a tradition inherited from the UK that goes back to the 1870’s when they passed a long estabilishing a series of bank holidays so that their employees could enjoy the cricket matches. More here: http://tinyurl.com/odzb8
My word! I’ve been gone most of the day, and we are barely on page3??? Of course, doc, JFri, tabby, carmy, Akenta, Joy, marg, cleo, and the pirate are missing
Oh and terrry and shika! Our biggest posters are gone! Hurry back, or I will have to go bed early, which is probably a good idea!
Bmonk thanx fore the info on the inverted wrytyng, eye shall bee sure to look into it a wee byt layter
ladywolf than-Q fore the wonder full storys eye have been reading them awl…please contine if it pleases ewe az we are awl enjoying them
And tew awl …thanks for the fun reads!!!
I avoid SOTU usually now. Not good for the blood pressure. When I’m expecting a bad time in a meeting at work, I’ll make a swing through SOTU to get my attitude primed so I can hold my own and remind others where they should be and remain.
ladywolf you used two biblical names. You didn’t discuss religion or politics, so no, you didn’t break any rules of the Tribe as far as I can see, and being one of the elders, I think the other elders would agree with me.
Good story Ladywolf Keep up the writing. I think one forum (Pibgorn) is enough though. We couldn’t handle all the posters your stories would attract. We can barely handle what we have now!
Hi Shiika I agree with you. Ladywolf writes good stories but Pibgorn is the place for that. Pibgorn is better suited for her forum. Actually, she should set up her own website.
I’m sure many people would go there once they are aware of it.
My day was fine. after meeting a friend for brunch and then leading meditation, I spent a few hours cleaning up someone’s yard after our storms recently. They had acorns and maple keys and oak leaves all over and in the pool.
I hate sweeping acorns from a patio, but I know it kills to walk around on barefeet on those things.
Akenta *sweet dreams!!! Hope you have no dreams about Shika* and Rad and their racing wildly thru the streets, or any dreams of nuclear radiation due to Doc’s coffee! LOL
Shika I’m always off on Fridays. I tend to chores, sometimes my son and I go to lunch, and I take my dad to the bank, library, dr’s appts. whatever. But we always go to the grocery store and I clean his house if needed and do his laundry.
You just vroom, right as I’m about to post, but I’ve learned to look both ways. With rad I just stay far away. And with jfri got the whole continent separating us.
Akenta are you inferring that JFri still texts and drives? I think he stopped that. AT LEAST HE BETTER HAD!! And Rad and his motorcycle, I would stay far away too! Sorry, Rad! Although I would like a ride!
hymenoxis, I don’t think you will have much sweeping to do tonite, it’s pretty quiet. Of course, who knows what kind of disruption Shika could make? LOL!
Shika you are not just a woman driver - you are That kind of woman driver ;>)
Dry* I wish it were my island but it is a small provincial park donated after WW2 by two sets of parents who lost their sons in the war. It is a wonderful little “Memory Island.”
Shika no favorite restaurant. we ate Chinese today. Subway, one Italian place, a couple of fast food joints, although, I’ve discovered except for Wendy’s it sits pretty heavy in my stomach after. Used to love Big Macs. but not anymoe.
Dry I used to like Big Macs or quarter pounders, but haven’t had them in ages.
I found a great restaurant here, not a franchise, called Fion McCool. It’s an Irish pub near our church. I had this fabulous lamb-burger with stilton cheese and an “emerald green” salad with strawberry vinagarette. They have great entrees.
I have been treated to a lunch there a couple of times for various occasions.
Dry I like Wendy’s for fast food too. Especially their salads and junior bacon and cheese. The new milkshakes are good too. especially the chocolate. Shika Fion McCool’s sounds good but it would be pretty expensive for a regular stop.
Great Googly Moogly!!! Just popped in again. I like my Scoot and it gets me where I gotta go. I got two wheels and keep ‘em BOTH on the pavement. No wheelies for this joker.
I’m actually safer with the bike than with a car because on the bike, I’m watching out for everyone else. The guy I bought my first bike from told me that to stay alive one must ACT paranoid when out on the road and all cagers (drivers of cars or trucks) are out to get you. I guess that was his version of Driving Defensively.
DawnAvril You are right, although I think you could do nicely with their appetizers for the price of a Wendy’s or MacDonald’s, but I head to Harvey’s for my fast food now.
Trust a new post to pop up whan I say I’m leaving.
Dry I think our Wendy’s is good here. It’s just not as easy for me to get to. I use public transit, and don’t go off the beaten track too often. I like their burgers and salads. I may have had there potato and chili. I do like stuffed/topped baked potatoes.
Our boys are coming tomorrow so I doubt I’ll be able to get on the computer even as much as I am on now but I will try to stop in occasionally to see what’s happening on the Big Top.
But we have quite a lot planned!
Dry I’ve riden as a passenger on a bike too. I’t’s fun, but nowadays I’m happy with a car. When others offer me a lift.
My sister has gone to Nova Scotia on the back of her husband’s Harley. They went to a biker’s convention somewhere where Harleys and bikers gather every year. I forget wher it was, but she said n”never again” LOL
she had fun though- lots of weird sights, let me tell you.
Shika I have been to NIagara on the Lake 3 times! I absolutely adored that place! We rented bikes twice and did the whole niagara parkway! That was SO MUCH FUN! and Fort George, the Prince of Wales Restaurant, the White Oaks Resort, the Butterfly Conservatory, the Botanical Gardens, etc.And all the little shops, esp. “The Silly Old Bear” all about Winnie the Pooh. I wonder if that shop is still around? I loved that town!
Shika we stayed in NIagara Falls and drove up for the day, except when we stayed at the White Oaks, our first time up. That place was a rip off, clean and nice enough, but they advertised being close to Niagara on the Lake and they weren’t and they were way overpriced and the restaurant wasn’t that good at all. Oh well, it could havebeen worse!
Apparently it isn’t going to be as hot as it has been the past few days so it should be great. Since we’ve only been here a couple of years, I still miss the guys - but we get back quite often - every three months or so - to move more of our possessions out here. I envy you, Dry being able to see our Dad as often as you do. My Dad is back home so I see him as often as I can when we go back there. But my sisters are there and I phone almost every day.
We saw Stratford years ago and saw “The Duchess of Malfi.” It was quite an experience - even if we did have rotten seats. Couldn’t see any entrances or exits and half the action was out of sight.
Dawn, my dad is 96, turned that on JUly 4, our Independence Day. My parents had me late in life. I’m an only. My mom passed 3 1/2 years ago. My dad lives in his own home still. I don’t know, maybe you heard me say this before! Sorry if I’m repeating myself! :-(
Dawn I have always been fascinated with Canada. Vancouver Island is one of my travel hopes, which I have come to refer to as my Bucket List! LOL! Train trip across Canada. visit Vancouver, Australia, Hawaii, and so on. I’ve been to Mexico City on a two day train trip which was OUTSTANDING but I’m sure Mexico is nothing like I remember, judging by the news.
Dry, my Dad is 92 - I think we did “talk” about it before. He’s in his own home but is forgetting more and more. We have a house cleaner for him now but my one sister looks after him quite a bit. He refuses to think of living anywhere else and it would be too hard on him to move him. Don’t know what we’ll do when he has to.
Dawn, I’ve been lucky. My dad still has his memory, but I worry about him falling or something and having to go to the hospital. That would alter everything, becasue I know he would forget all sense of time and place. And yes, now that you mention yor dad’s age, I DO REMEMBER!
I think you are right about Mexico although we did have a great trip with my whole family (dad, sisters and all) a few Christmases ago. We spent most of our holidays here on the island - that was what made us decide to retire here. It is really beautiful here. We bought our property 25 years ago and just waited to build.
Dawn forgot to mention, my dad’s eyesight is poor as well, he loves to read, he gets big print books at the library. If he ever got to the point where he couldn/t read, I don’t know what that would do to him! But it is the funniest thing, he can see a speck of dirt or paper on the floor!!
We have much less rain than Vancouver - last winter there were only three days where I did not see the sun - for at least a few minutes. It did snow and that stayed for ten days. Longer than normal. I just don’t like it when it gets too hot - 90 and above.
*Dr*, My Dad’s sight has got to the point where he can’t read or watch tv so he is really isolated. His hearing is poor as well. He can see the curbs so he can still walk - macular degeneration.
Dawn I hear you. My dad has the start of that as well. And he is deaf in one ear, and wears a hearing aid in the other. I call him every night and the first thing he ALWAYS does is tell me he can’t hear me and says “Wait a minute. I have to turn up my hearing aid!”

Dawn dp is fine by me, would that work?
dpetrill over 15 years ago
Yes, a tuxedo and an all black cat, both guys. The tuxedo enjoys being aloof, chasing squirrels and toy mice, and doing things to his kitty bed that are best not mentioned here (we call it his “happy dance”). The all black porker has lost 5 lbs, so he’s down to 16 lbs, and enjoys canned food, canned food, being outside when we’re there to monitor him, …and canned food. Did I mention that he likes food, even though he’s on a strict diet? He also has the loudest purr per pound that we’ve ever heard in a cat.
Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago
*dp - I had never heard the term “tuxedo” used in reference to a cat’s markings, but thanks to your picture, I understand. I had a calico with a white bib & boots, but she died over a year ago. My cats never got too fat, because we kept them on dry cat food. We owned cats to keep the rodent population down, and found that they were better mousers if they didn’t get canned food.

POIT!
POIT!

I think you are right about Mexico although we did have a great trip with my whole family (dad, sisters and all) a few Christmases ago. We spent most of our holidays here on the island - that was what made us decide to retire here. It is really beautiful here. We bought our property 25 years ago and just waited to build.

It’s a fear for us to - Dad’s sight is very poor now but he insists on three or four mile walks every day - by himself unless we are in town.

Dawn sounds like you have a lovely place to live, and I guess you don’t mind the winters! I don’t mind them here really, it’s just that I love summer!

Dawn My dad walks to the mailbox and back, and we do our Friday things and that’s all the walking he does except for around his house.

Oops - one more, Dry I remind Dad to put his ears on and his teeth in so he can hear me and I can understand him. It’s a standing joke now.
