Time now to unleash my big surprise for you all. Before I start, have some pancakes topped with blue berries and covered in rich maple syrup. With hash browns on the side and sausages too. Now let us all toast this special occasion using doc’s nuclear coffee of course. I want to give a toast to everyone here in the tribe. All of you caring people have made me and my dad feel welcome So to you all I send out hugs and kisses . This is a day that I celebrate and I choose to celebrate here at the Tribe under the Big Top. and now for the surprise.

    A CAT STORY

The night was dark, perfect for what he was about to do. His name was Kyle Franks, He was a low class burglar. Tonight however he would strike it rich, raiding the Everin Family mansion.

Samson , a white Persian cat and his mate Delilah a Calico cat heard strange sounds from outside. Samson left Delilah’s side and climbed to the window sill to look outside. Someone was breaking in. He would make that someone regret it.

Delilah left her bed that was full of kittens to help her mate out. The burglar successfully pried opened the door only to get clawed in the eye by Samson. The burglar stumbled and shattered a mirror. ( That is seven years of bad luck).

Kyle Franks was not going to be made a fool. He began his work taking things of great value , like paintings, jewelery. and electronic equipment. He was unaware that Delilah was sneaking up behind him. Kyle tripped over her and landed on the hot wood stove

He screamed in agony which woke up the kittens, another mistake! They all came at him kittens and parents in full hissing fury.

This was a horrible nightmare come true. He was being clawed and bitten continuously. Kyle struggled to get to his feet. This house wasn’t worth it. He just wanted to get out alive. He brushed off the rest of the cat attackers and made his way to the door.

He thought that he was home free at last, until a black cat crossed his path. He ran with all his might , Right into a police car. Justice was served. THE END

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………..

This little story is my gift to all of you. I hope that you like it. This was my top secret project that I was working on. That’s why I chose not to reveal it on Thursday SURPRISE, SURPRISE SURPRISE.

The story was good and imaginative as usual.

    The suspensense/surprise was predidctable.

As long as you ask, yes there were too many dramatics.

And I thought we agreed the stories were good enough on Pigborn.

I just don’t have the time to read through every comic and I miss most of your stories. But I always make sure I have time to follow the Yappy Nuts here. Whatever you decide, thanks.

Yes, a tuxedo and an all black cat, both guys. The tuxedo enjoys being aloof, chasing squirrels and toy mice, and doing things to his kitty bed that are best not mentioned here (we call it his “happy dance”). The all black porker has lost 5 lbs, so he’s down to 16 lbs, and enjoys canned food, canned food, being outside when we’re there to monitor him, …and canned food. Did I mention that he likes food, even though he’s on a strict diet? He also has the loudest purr per pound that we’ve ever heard in a cat.

*dp - I had never heard the term “tuxedo” used in reference to a cat’s markings, but thanks to your picture, I understand. I had a calico with a white bib & boots, but she died over a year ago. My cats never got too fat, because we kept them on dry cat food. We owned cats to keep the rodent population down, and found that they were better mousers if they didn’t get canned food.

My day was fine. after meeting a friend for brunch and then leading meditation, I spent a few hours cleaning up someone’s yard after our storms recently. They had acorns and maple keys and oak leaves all over and in the pool.

I hate sweeping acorns from a patio, but I know it kills to walk around on barefeet on those things.

I found a great restaurant here, not a franchise, called Fion McCool. It’s an Irish pub near our church. I had this fabulous lamb-burger with stilton cheese and an “emerald green” salad with strawberry vinagarette. They have great entrees.

I have been treated to a lunch there a couple of times for various occasions.

    POIT!

Great Googly Moogly!!! Just popped in again. I like my Scoot and it gets me where I gotta go. I got two wheels and keep ‘em BOTH on the pavement. No wheelies for this joker.

I’m actually safer with the bike than with a car because on the bike, I’m watching out for everyone else. The guy I bought my first bike from told me that to stay alive one must ACT paranoid when out on the road and all cagers (drivers of cars or trucks) are out to get you. I guess that was his version of Driving Defensively.

Apparently it isn’t going to be as hot as it has been the past few days so it should be great. Since we’ve only been here a couple of years, I still miss the guys - but we get back quite often - every three months or so - to move more of our possessions out here. I envy you, Dry being able to see our Dad as often as you do. My Dad is back home so I see him as often as I can when we go back there. But my sisters are there and I phone almost every day.

We saw Stratford years ago and saw “The Duchess of Malfi.” It was quite an experience - even if we did have rotten seats. Couldn’t see any entrances or exits and half the action was out of sight.

Dawn I have always been fascinated with Canada. Vancouver Island is one of my travel hopes, which I have come to refer to as my Bucket List! LOL! Train trip across Canada. visit Vancouver, Australia, Hawaii, and so on. I’ve been to Mexico City on a two day train trip which was OUTSTANDING but I’m sure Mexico is nothing like I remember, judging by the news.

Dry, my Dad is 92 - I think we did “talk” about it before. He’s in his own home but is forgetting more and more. We have a house cleaner for him now but my one sister looks after him quite a bit. He refuses to think of living anywhere else and it would be too hard on him to move him. Don’t know what we’ll do when he has to.

Dawn, I’ve been lucky. My dad still has his memory, but I worry about him falling or something and having to go to the hospital. That would alter everything, becasue I know he would forget all sense of time and place. And yes, now that you mention yor dad’s age, I DO REMEMBER!

I think you are right about Mexico although we did have a great trip with my whole family (dad, sisters and all) a few Christmases ago. We spent most of our holidays here on the island - that was what made us decide to retire here. It is really beautiful here. We bought our property 25 years ago and just waited to build.

It’s a fear for us to - Dad’s sight is very poor now but he insists on three or four mile walks every day - by himself unless we are in town.

Dawn My dad walks to the mailbox and back, and we do our Friday things and that’s all the walking he does except for around his house.

Dawn forgot to mention, my dad’s eyesight is poor as well, he loves to read, he gets big print books at the library. If he ever got to the point where he couldn/t read, I don’t know what that would do to him! But it is the funniest thing, he can see a speck of dirt or paper on the floor!!

We have much less rain than Vancouver - last winter there were only three days where I did not see the sun - for at least a few minutes. It did snow and that stayed for ten days. Longer than normal. I just don’t like it when it gets too hot - 90 and above.

*Dr*, My Dad’s sight has got to the point where he can’t read or watch tv so he is really isolated. His hearing is poor as well. He can see the curbs so he can still walk - macular degeneration.

Dawn I hear you. My dad has the start of that as well. And he is deaf in one ear, and wears a hearing aid in the other. I call him every night and the first thing he ALWAYS does is tell me he can’t hear me and says “Wait a minute. I have to turn up my hearing aid!”
