Good morning and Happy Friday!! JFri thanks for the grits ((JFri))
Hi MoPar glad to see you’re up - is a little chilly here this morning so was hard to get out of bed.
What a shame. These guys are worried about what they will face in a combat situation and then something like this happens here. That building was the outprocessing center for deployment overseas.
Good Morning all. My biggest furniture mistake was buying an expensive sectional sofa that was so soft you sunk right into it. At first it seemed so comfy, but prolonged use made my back ache. Now, years later, we are looking to replace our current couch and love seat and initially my wife and I were in disagreement, she wanted soft and I wanted firm until we found the Stressless couches, of which we have a chair already. Now were in disagreement over the price. LOL
I just glanced at the headlines this morning. Two tragedies on our front page. The shootings in Texas, so horrible, and locally we had a huge 3 alarm fire that involved 100 firefighters. Whatcom Middle School, a historic school that had just undergone a massive and beautiful restoration caught fire and burned the entire top floor so badly that the roof collapsed. Now they say it’s future is in doubt. I feel so badly for the teachers and students.
Doc, I echo your remarks. That is why I am so very happy just to wake up in the morning and see what I do have. I am thankfull that I do and go where I want, when I want.
Morning, tribe! Just doing a quick check-in. I’m about 3 days behind on reading the comics. Our internet was up & down, and sluggish when up. We thought it was the provider, but I think our router is wearing out. It has been nice to have my hubby home almost all week - I got HIM to call the IP, so now he believes me when I tell him the router’s got problems.
In about 30 minutes, I’ve got to get him up, and work on making sure everyone is properly dressed & ready to leave on time for the funeral. The family session with the pastor & the visitation at the mortuary went well yesterday. I scanned over 200 photos of my mom & my hubby made a PowerPoint presentation out of them. Played it during the visitation, and it is to be played at the funeral while people are coming in & then leaving. It was so great to remember the days when Mom could really enjoy life (& help others to enjoy it as well).
Doc - Can you hold off on the bad weather until next week? I’ve got some relatives coming in from Colorado, and I don’t want them driving on ice, or getting stuck in snow. We’re supposed to have a high 74 F today & sunny, with 25 mph winds. As long as the tent doesn’t blow over at the graveside, it should be a good day.
Doc - The forecast for here shows highs in the 70s for this weekend & a few showers for Monday, but high around 60. The following days only show occasional clouds and highs in the 50s, so nothing terrible looking in the next 10 days. You can have winter back on Monday, as long as you keep it!
Thanks, cleo. I think today will be much more enjoyable than the last couple of years. It was so hard losing Mom a little bit at a time. Now I know she’s having a great time, and especially the way she was at the end, I wouldn’t wish for her to have to stay that way a moment longer. It was fun telling the pastor all the pranks Mom loved to pull. I think April Fool’s Day was her favorite holiday.
Since Mom died on Halloween night - around the time trick or treaters would be out, my husband suggested one last prank for Mom while we were waiting for the mortuary to come. We could have put Mom on the front porch swing, place a bowl of candy by her, and the trick or treaters could have gotten a little more than they bargained for! (Of course we didn’t, but Mom would probably have thought that was funny, too!)
Mom liked to make what we’ve dubbed “cotton ball macaroons” for April Fool’s Day. Take a cottonball, dip it in whipped egg whites, coat it with coconut, place on a cookie sheet, and bake until it starts to brown. My sister made some (with Mom’s approval) for the home health aide this year for April 1. The aide came twice a week to bathe Mom, so it wasn’t like she was a complete stranger. My sis put the tray of cottonball macaroons in Mom’s bedroom, and then when the aide was there, offered them to the aide. Mom enjoyed watching the aide’s reaction! (Mom could do a lopsided smile.)
Thanks, Dfrog. I do think today will actually be a rather fun day. Getting to see relatives & friends that we don’t get to see very often, reliving the good memories that Mom helped make, it isn’t something that I dread. Now, my sons & hubby wearing suits & ties may be something that THEY dread, but I like seeing them look so sharp for a change.
Doc - Zits today reminded me of yesterday. I was sitting on the floor, dusting the coffee table at Mom’s house, shortly before the pastor was to come over. My hubby pulled out his camera phone and snapped a picture of my backside. Since Mom was infamous for doing the same thing, I told him I thought I didn’t have to worry about “butt shots” anymore, since Mom was gone. He said he just wanted proof that I dusted, because he hasn’t seen me do that before. LOL!
Good morning all!
4th morning in a row of absolutely gorgeous weather (might be chilly, I wouldn’t know). Today, however, I set out for all my regularly scheduled classes. bbl
I forgot about your lack of cooking skill, Doc. I would think as much frozen food you stock, you could buy something there & follow the instructions on the package for heating it up. Whenever I’m shopping for Stouffer’s lasagna, I think of you.
RMom - Sounds like one of the good kind of funerals. My grandmother passed away earlier this year. She had outlived 3 husbands and all three families were there for the funeral. It was really nice to meet all my ‘step cousins’. The bishop presiding at the funeral noted that it was a testament to her that we considered each other just part of one big family, even those that had no real blood relations. One of the nicest funerals I’ve ever attended. Hope yours goes as well.
Dfrog - I don’t know of any major family feuds to worry about. I do have one brother who “a little bit of him goes a long way”. He tries to be nice, but he’s several bricks shy of a load. But at least everyone tries to stay civil, so I don’t anticipate any problems.
Well, I’ll check in later tonight, or tomorrow!
Good Morning Everyone! Just checking in, everything is okay. Just really busy! Hubby is still off from work so he can help me around the house and with the girls. Actually, I think I could get more R&R if he would go away! Cleo, you got the “Little General,” I got the “Big Fat Jerk General.” Oops, did I say that out loud? I’ll be back when I can.
Peace and Love to All!!
I go away for RL and come back to a lot of tongue action and I don’t mean chatting. On my bike ride around the lake today I saw that it actually snowed last night along with the deluge of rain. We didn’t get snow in our yard, but just down the road they did.
Finally got rid of that piece of junk with the starter problem. Turns out it needs a new flywheel and the customer doesn’t want to put out the do-re-mi for it. So I charged for my time and he is trading it in for a new payment!
*Hey johnny! Yes you don’t want to get sick again! I just heard VIT D is good to help prevent H1N1. I wonder if any of them know what they’re talking about?
It’s a good thing I had my raincoat and umbrella when I stopped in to say “hi
(((((((((((((((((((RRAmom))))))))))))))))) My condolences for your day. I think it makes it a little easier if you can remember the happy times.
Everyone is always in and out, so HI to all who are in, have been in or will be in.
We bought a canvas garage and storage shed and we were trying to set it up today. We had no problem with the frame. When we tried to put the canvas up the wind came up so strongly we couldn’t really do anything with it. The wind was so bad it even blew me almost off my feet. Not easy to so,believe me.
Before the economy tanked we used to leave for the winter. Now I have to find something amusing or interesting to get me through the cold, gray days. I keep waiting for Hugh Heffner to send me his reply to hire me as his current Playboy photographer. I have experience, I am willing to put in long hours and the clincher, I am willing to do the touch ups before I actually take the picture.
DOC, (batting eyelashes, looking sweet and innocent, scraping foot along the ground kicking up dirt) AGAIN I SAY, “I KNOW NUTHING, I SEE NUTHING!” (You don’t want me to rat out my buddy JFri do you?)
What was really annoying about trying to put up the garage was that the minute we tied it to the frame and left it, the wind died down. Later when we came back to finish it, the wind started blowing again. Is someone trying to tell us something? Anyway the timing bites.
Cleo we had a little sun today and yesterday but mainly rain. Didn’t think it got cold enough for snow.
Brrrrrr - just thinking about it makes me feel cold!
Hi there, Dry! Did I hear there were congrats in order for your team? I’m not sure. My Flames in Calgary are in real hot water - they got flu shots ahead of all the people who really need them.
Ah yes - sorry I forgot you JFri. How could I? Except that you seem to be known by a certain other name - at least according to some Feisty Italian Girl.
Doc, No, I take that back! That caper at Cleo’s that we were accused of, we stood beside each other (well, 5 foot 5 standing beside a 6 foot 5, we were still standing beside each other), INNOCENT! We knew nothing about all that disaster at his neighbors! Last I heard, his neighbor was still screaming, but I know enough Korean to know he was blaming Cleo!
DocT the h1n1 flu has very mild symptoms most of the time so don’t take anything for granted. If you don’t get better in a couple of days or seem to have a fever come back, go back to the doc. And listen to wildcheetah. She sounds like she’s a pretty smart person. What did you do to deserve her ;>)
Dawn - Until my bike ride this morning, I thought just rain too. We also got some sun today. I keep track of temps. Last night it got down to 35 degrees. I think on the island, you are warmer than us. Victoria is always earlier with spring plants than we are, so you may be too.
Yes, Dry, you do sound elated - either that or you’re high! Just kidding, I know the only thing that would make you high are the endorphins from your team winning!
Dry - If you and JFri could stop your bickering and fighting you might make a good painting duo, considering your height disparities. You wouldn’t even need a ladder.
Cleo, We do get a little more snow than Victoria and it stays for about a week but it doesn’t usually come until late December or January. You must be more inland.
Dry - I am eternally grateful that you descended upon my neighbor and not me. And, I am also grateful that he does not know I am connected to you two in any way. Did I say he keeps sharpening his sushi knives and repeating over and over again, “I will take care of both the long and short of it.” (Wonder what that means?}
*Cleo, yes you have mentioned the sushi knives! MORE THAN ONCE! And just becasue he said LONG AND SHORT OF IT DOESN’T MEAN HE MEANT US! DIDN’T YOU SAY YOUR WIFE IS ONLY ABOUT 5 FOOT TALL, HUH? *
As for Doc’s doctor (LOL) I will see if JFri is up for another paint job!
And in case you are wondering, my neighbor is about my height. And in case you are wondering, he keeps saying I am going to get that FHIG and her tall bickering partner.
Just popping in to say thanks! I did wonder if the tent was going to survive the Kansas wind, but it did. All in all, it went well. I’m just exhausted, seems like I’m only getting about 6 hours of sleep a night this week, and I need more!!
I’ve been thankful with it being cold & flu season, that our household has been well. It would have been really tough for me this week if I had been sick. It was a busy week, and I’ll have lots to do in the coming months, but at least I’ve got the things done that had to be done right away. Not getting enough rest does tend to weaken a person’s immune system. (Hint, hint, Doc & johnny) I know the time change is affecting me more this time around than it typically does for fall. (The spring change is usually more difficult for me.) Good night!
Dry - I never say anything to my neighbor about you guys. If I do, he will know that i am acquainted with you. Believe you me, you guys have never entered into our conversations.
In fact, I am a very comforting neighbor. I give him pats on the back of condolence. I say “ˇThere, there, they were mean people, but they are gone now. Relax, relax, relax… soothe your troubles. relax, relax, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
That is a situation I planned out early. I have a wife, occasional benefits there, kids…nope. No benefits. By they way, just joking. Not for me, but for you all. I knew early on that I was not cut out to be a parent. I love to travel and I wanted no hindrances.
**What am I doing here on the floor? Why didn’t someone help me up? What the heck happened here? Why am I laying in a puddle of spit? Can someone answer these mysterious questions?
Why am I still laying here? Cripes, some friends you guys are! Would someone be kind enough to help me up, or do I have to lay here all night? If I do, would someone at least
**GET ME A FRIKCIN’ BLANKET SO I DON’T FREEZE TO DEATH! GOOD LORD!

When we tried to put the canvas up the wind came up so strongly we couldn’t really do anything with it. The wind was so bad it even blew me almost off my feet. Not easy to so,believe me.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hello Serena!
Glad you popped in!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Evening Mopar!
We’re all Freaky here!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I know it’s tough johnnyd, but take it from an old party animal, being out and about just lengthens the recovery time.
serena - I am glad the wind blew you our way.
Mopar - I couldn’t agree with you more. Is that a hint of spring I see in the foliage?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
MoPar to answer your question, TOO LONG! Have I told you all
**I HATE WINTER! LOL!cleokaya about 15 years ago
Before the economy tanked we used to leave for the winter. Now I have to find something amusing or interesting to get me through the cold, gray days. I keep waiting for Hugh Heffner to send me his reply to hire me as his current Playboy photographer. I have experience, I am willing to put in long hours and the clincher, I am willing to do the touch ups before I actually take the picture.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Doc - I believe that is someone’s special delivery.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Hey Doc, for once, DON’T LOOK AT ME! “I KNOW NUTHING, I SEE NUTHING!” THAT’S MY STORY AND I’M STICKING TO IT!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Well sure Doc. Very generous of you. Please send wildcheetah over. snerk
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
DOC, (batting eyelashes, looking sweet and innocent, scraping foot along the ground kicking up dirt) AGAIN I SAY, “I KNOW NUTHING, I SEE NUTHING!” (You don’t want me to rat out my buddy JFri do you?)
serenasakitty about 15 years ago
What was really annoying about trying to put up the garage was that the minute we tied it to the frame and left it, the wind died down. Later when we came back to finish it, the wind started blowing again. Is someone trying to tell us something? Anyway the timing bites.
serenasakitty about 15 years ago
I agree with everyone [except Doc I guess. Winter has got to go. I don’t even want it to start.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Let’s all chip in and send all of our miserable winter weather to Doc. That way everyone wins.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
MoPar - Ooh, you betcha. I haven’t had a cigar in probably 2 to 3 weeks (another thing to blame on the weather).
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Cleo Nooooooooo!!!!!!
NOT Snow!!!!!We moved here to get away from the white stuff!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
DocT sorry you’re feeling down. Hope you’re better soon.
And JDoc I’m glad you’re feeling better but make sure you take it easy - you don’t want a relapse!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dawn Howdy. It surprised me too. There was no call for snow. It was just skimpy, in the ditchs, on roofs, etc.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Hi Dawn and serena
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Hi to thr rest of the Tribe, Terry, Dry, Carmy, BMonk, Mitch, Serena, and any others I have missed.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Doc, to answer your question, because the TURD blames me for EVERYTHING, that’s why! :-D!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Cleo we had a little sun today and yesterday but mainly rain. Didn’t think it got cold enough for snow. Brrrrrr - just thinking about it makes me feel cold!
Hi there, Dry! Did I hear there were congrats in order for your team? I’m not sure. My Flames in Calgary are in real hot water - they got flu shots ahead of all the people who really need them.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Ah yes - sorry I forgot you JFri. How could I? Except that you seem to be known by a certain other name - at least according to some Feisty Italian Girl.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Doc, No, I take that back! That caper at Cleo’s that we were accused of, we stood beside each other (well, 5 foot 5 standing beside a 6 foot 5, we were still standing beside each other), INNOCENT! We knew nothing about all that disaster at his neighbors! Last I heard, his neighbor was still screaming, but I know enough Korean to know he was blaming Cleo!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
DocT the h1n1 flu has very mild symptoms most of the time so don’t take anything for granted. If you don’t get better in a couple of days or seem to have a fever come back, go back to the doc. And listen to wildcheetah. She sounds like she’s a pretty smart person. What did you do to deserve her ;>)
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Dawn, OH yes! You heard correctly! Brett Favre and the Vikings kicked the Packers (more importantly) Packer Management, to the curb, and then some!
Can you tell I’m still elated over that one? And they did it twice! Poor ole Ted Thompson was even paler after those two Viking victories!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Well my two posts didn’t post one after the other, so before JFri gets his “boxers in a twist” read both comments!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dawn - Until my bike ride this morning, I thought just rain too. We also got some sun today. I keep track of temps. Last night it got down to 35 degrees. I think on the island, you are warmer than us. Victoria is always earlier with spring plants than we are, so you may be too.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Yes, Dry, you do sound elated - either that or you’re high! Just kidding, I know the only thing that would make you high are the endorphins from your team winning!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Yes Dawn, don’t you wonder how Doc lucked out? But then I hear wildcheetah has a real soft heart for strays!
You know I love ya, Doc! Doc? Hey Doc!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - If you and JFri could stop your bickering and fighting you might make a good painting duo, considering your height disparities. You wouldn’t even need a ladder.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Cleo, We do get a little more snow than Victoria and it stays for about a week but it doesn’t usually come until late December or January. You must be more inland.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
JFri, I got us out of that job Doc needed done! Give me a HIGH FIVE, MAN!
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Ah, do I really have to make supper? Ah gee… Well, cya l8tr Tribe.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Cleo, :-P :-P :-P TALK ABOUT UNGRATEFUL, GEEZ!!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dawn - I am due south of Bellingham, just west of I-5.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - I am eternally grateful that you descended upon my neighbor and not me. And, I am also grateful that he does not know I am connected to you two in any way. Did I say he keeps sharpening his sushi knives and repeating over and over again, “I will take care of both the long and short of it.” (Wonder what that means?}
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Doc - If you are sicking them on your doctor…he must have been really bad. shiver, shiver, quake.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
*Cleo, yes you have mentioned the sushi knives! MORE THAN ONCE! And just becasue he said LONG AND SHORT OF IT DOESN’T MEAN HE MEANT US! DIDN’T YOU SAY YOUR WIFE IS ONLY ABOUT 5 FOOT TALL, HUH? *
As for Doc’s doctor (LOL) I will see if JFri is up for another paint job!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry- My wife is 5’2”, but I am only 5’11”, a far cry from 6’5”.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
And in case you are wondering, my neighbor is about my height. And in case you are wondering, he keeps saying I am going to get that FHIG and her tall bickering partner.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
As he sharpens his knives he keeps singing: How Dry I am & Fri me to the moon.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Well, I am obviously alone here. Off to dinner I go.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Yes Cleo, leave us hanging with this BIG MISCONCEPTION OVER OUR HEADS! I guess the next caper is to sneak in and steal those sushi knives!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Just popping in to say thanks! I did wonder if the tent was going to survive the Kansas wind, but it did. All in all, it went well. I’m just exhausted, seems like I’m only getting about 6 hours of sleep a night this week, and I need more!!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
I’ve been thankful with it being cold & flu season, that our household has been well. It would have been really tough for me this week if I had been sick. It was a busy week, and I’ll have lots to do in the coming months, but at least I’ve got the things done that had to be done right away. Not getting enough rest does tend to weaken a person’s immune system. (Hint, hint, Doc & johnny) I know the time change is affecting me more this time around than it typically does for fall. (The spring change is usually more difficult for me.) Good night!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Night Doc
See you in the morning!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I can’t seem to stay on the computer for any length of time tonight. RL keeps popping up!
(((Rmom))), Glad things are going as well as could be expected today.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
(((Rmom))- Your day ends, rest well.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I must have BO. Everytime I appear, everyone else vanishes.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
What do you expect when you keep tellling your neighbor that JFri and I destroyed his house?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - I never say anything to my neighbor about you guys. If I do, he will know that i am acquainted with you. Believe you me, you guys have never entered into our conversations.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Are we still on that? LOL
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, you’re fine, I keep getting called away from this ‘puter!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
In fact, I am a very comforting neighbor. I give him pats on the back of condolence. I say “ˇThere, there, they were mean people, but they are gone now. Relax, relax, relax… soothe your troubles. relax, relax, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
It may not work for him, but what the heck, it works for me.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo!
ROFLMTO!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
* Terry* - Hello my friend. I like this time of day because all of my chores are done for the day.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, my chores are all done, but the #1 son is having problems with his computer and I am helping him with it.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
That is a situation I planned out early. I have a wife, occasional benefits there, kids…nope. No benefits. By they way, just joking. Not for me, but for you all. I knew early on that I was not cut out to be a parent. I love to travel and I wanted no hindrances.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I am about to watch a movie so…see you all later.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Enjoy the movie Cleo.
