Very soon next couple days snow will be a distance memory. Not the gas prices, it’s here like the rest of you all are suffering from now we here in KS are starting to suffer. Next we first taste of spring. With gas prices going up and I’m taking class on-line. I’m saving a lot of gas money.

I lost my power from just before 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 a.m. I’ll have to watch the news to see what the temperature was. Intellicast said it was -9° F but my laptop (which is usually right but not always) said it was -15° F.

Grog - I’m seeing 55°F forecasted for Sunday & Monday here. Not as great as 70°F, but compared to the -17.7°F that the weather station in my area reported for today, it will feel wonderful. Sojo - I haven’t figured out where to go to look at what Wichita’s temp was this morning. I’d heard power was out on the east side of Wichita, but not out west. This is NOT a good time to be without power!

Sojo - KSN is reporting that Wichita had a negative 17 this morning.

I have a question. When did gocomics become known and when did Big Top become meeting place for most?

I am looking forward to warmer weather not to use AC either.

Rmom you are descibing our week-end. At least we’ll be out of the hard freeze by then.

Rmom - KWCH just said -17° F. was the offical low this morning. I have a generator that did start but was worried the battery might not be new enough as cold as it was. Never sure how long the power might be out so I was glad when it did start.

Sojo - I’m glad the generator started for you! Grog - Our weekend lows are to be right around the freezing mark. I’m hoping next week’s temps will be at least in the normal range, although warmer than that would be nice. Kab - Ask those questions when ♠Lonewolf♠ or Doc is around. They’ve been here longer. bmonk might also know.

@Rmom–as your avatar demonstrates the difficulties when it’s cold?

I’m not sure when the Tribe settled at the Big Top–DocT might be the best hope to remember. Most of the early posters have had to move on one way or the other.

From one frozen tundra to another….Greetings Glad the generator started, Sojo The lowest we experienced was -9F. High this morning was 1°F but, hey, we are in the high 20’s now and headed for the 3o’s tomorrow and this weekend is to be in high 40’s with 50’s during the first part of the week. Surely hope you get some of this since you are south of us, **Rmom, Kab, Sojo

I agree about the generator: it’s good to have light, and some warmth too.

A month from now we will be looking for a crocus or snow drop peeking out of the melting snow.

Kab Sister, as I understand it there was a group of people who got to know each other on the strips, they settled for a while on a different strip but moved to the Big Top about a year and a half ago.

I think most of us that currently comment or lurk at the Big Top joined at different times. There was a discussion at one time and most of the commentors agreed that seniority really wasn’t that important. We were much more concerned with how members of the Tribe treated each other and that everyone felt welcome.

bmonk - We needed the moisture. Not enough snow here to cause flooding but I don’t know about nearby states. All the snow here probably won’t add up to over 2” of rain and as dry as the ground is there won’t be much runoff (if the ground isn’t too frozen).

I don’t think so and never did hear if they had an alternate heat source. They may of had to move out. Hope if they did they don’t have problems with frozen water pipes.

Yes, serenasakitty has been on my mind and in my prayers for some time now.

If they had to move out of their house that may be why she hasn’t been on-line.

Thank you Big Sister I was trying to think of the past when gocomics became. I stumbled on gocomics seeking comic site. I wanted to see what strips where on. I believe more then 3 to 4 years ago. I wanted something fun to read. I believe I seen big top. One item I didn’t know I seen were some had short comments on and I thought cool. Then I wondered how they made them but waited a long time. Time flies when one has fun.
