You folks will have to forgive my lack of “visiting” ……. we came down to San Diego for the most fantastic airshow in Naval Aviation History……a 100th year anniversary! They had a “flying display” of 193 of the remaining aircraft that flew in the Navy in the last 100 years! It was totally AMAZING!!

We’ll be home by Wed night if weather permits.

bmonk - Be Back Later! I didn’t know just when I’d be back. I’ve got to leave for class in a couple of hours, so can’t stay too long this afternoon.

Hmmm…. I need to remember to take my nighttime meds at night. That way I might not be taking a nap before breakfast when I take them in the morning.

Oooops! - If those meds cause you to get sleepy, then I would think it would be a better idea. I think they make pill boxes now that have alarms, so it goes off when it is time to take your meds. There is all sorts of interesting gadgets for sale out there.

Sounds like a plan, Rmom Also Pharmacists are good to suggest routines etc.

Hope&Joy - Routines to help one remember work well for those who have a daily routine to start with. I’ve got a feeling that Oooops! doesn’t have a set routine each day like many people.

Routine?….. What is that? Ugh!!! Is that like a SCHEDULE?!?!?

Yes, I have been told I need a schedule… hmmm… maybe if I try to develop a routine instead of a schedule it would help?

Ooops! - I think your meds are designed to help you develop a schedule/routine. Some people do things in a certain order - I think that’s a routine. A schedule is when things are done at a certain time. I like having a routine, but I prefer to be flexible about it. My hubby has a set routine, but refuses to vary the order he does things, even if that means taking his meds a lot later than he does during the week.

Oooops! - How did you get a picture of me in the morning?

Alarms are good ideas….. if I pay attention to them.

Ooops! - I understand! Depending on what I’m timing, I’ve got different timers. The timer on the microwave beeps, then stops. I’ve got other electric timers which will keep beeping for up to a minute before stopping. The trick is to be within hearshot of the alarm. It doesn’t work if I can’t hear it.

I tried setting timers on Fiend but I keep turning up or down the volume and if Fiend is with me, my meds are not necessarily so. Plus, you have to have a drink. I should really try the kitchen to keep my pill dispensers?

Oooops! - My hubby keeps his meds in the kitchen. I keep mine by my computer. I usually have a glass of water (with lid & straw) or a bottle of pop nearby.

Hello Lewreader - I know nothing!

That never really did make sense to me Sir Lew. You may or may not think She Who Must Be Obeyed is fat but those presents just say that you think those are the things she really likes or that you have no idea what she likes. And giving all three instead of just one or two is a bit extravagant …… do you feel guilty about something? Maybe you never properly apologized for being not very nice while giving up smoking?

My Advice: Go get a card and write inside it some of the reasons you love her. If there is something special she did for you recently, be sure to mention it and thank her.

As for gifts - try to think of something she personally will like (hobbies, collections, sexy pictures of you), if you want to tell her she is fat give her a gym membership of exercise equipment or a talking scale.

I have a question for ones who like to cook. People I realize when tasting flavors might be different for some. A hickory flavor in sauce’s or food. How would you describe hickory taste?

Hello ♥Kab♥ - I like different types of smoking woods but am not good at describing their taste.

Trying to further describe it is rather difficult, ♥Kab♥. To say something is hickory smoked is about as far as a cooking show will go as far as I know.

♥Kab♥ - Tho only thing describing it is in a book Smoke & Spice. It says “Hickory: Hickory is the king of the woods in the Southern barbecue belt, as basic to the region’s cooking as cornbread. The strong, hearty taste is perfect for pork shoulder and ribs, but it is also enhansases any red meat or poultry.”

Another source that may describe it I have giving to my cousin and no longer have it.

Grog - It sure doesn’t. The other source may of described it but I don’t have it. A quick check on the internet wasn’t any better. It may be like describing color to a blind person. Without a taste referance it would be hard.

Valentine’s Day Happy Thoughts!

I just finished watching Rudy. I still get choked up when I see it.

A lot of our sense of taste is supposed to come from smell. I think hickory (or any smoke flavor) tastes a lot like it smells. There is also a tendency to add a lot of salt to smoked foods. I don’t know if that helps at all.

I’d have to agree about the salt I think, Ooops. Perhahaps that’s why I’m not overly crazy about these things. I’m not someone who likes salty flavors.

♥Kab♥ - Like some spices or herbs, etc. a person may have to experience it to know what it tastes like.

Ooops! - That’s right. If you even smelled the smoke you’d know what it would taste like.

KabI would describe the taste of “Hickory” as having a smoky, woodsy flavor which reminds me of the way it smells……almost pungent (spicy, sharp, strong). If we don’t smell something, we almost lose our sense of taste…like Ooops* said and **Sojo

Grog Have you seen a Jean Arthur movie, “The More the Merrier”? Golferman and I really enjoyed it and you probably have seen it too.

Concerning routines My niece was told to take her pills 3 times a day with her meals. She started having very bad reactions. It was discovered, She ate her breakfast at 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning and lunch at noon and dinner at 4 or 5. She was out of kilter She changed her routine to 9:30 or so, took her pills with a snack around 4 and at a 10:00 with a snack…suddenly, all was well no more bad side effects

Yes, taking my pills three times a day with meals would not be helpful. Nope, I am still trying to work on eating breakfast before noon (or 2pm).

Hello all I wish to thank everyone for your help in describing taste of hickory. Remember I mentioned with everyone taste being different there would be different reactions for sampling. When I taste hickory this would taste different for me. I have nasal sinus problems and there are some smells in the air that is hard for me to notice. With one exception. There is a smell in particular very strong smell I have no problem with. And where we use to live a cat got mixed up with that smell and of all things had to have attention.

I will say good night to all I hope a lot of you had a nice day. Rather if you celebrate Valentine’s day or not. I know some who rather Valentines day would go away.
