My Ericka would push pieces of food off her plate and, being far-sighted, couldn’t find them. So after she finished, I would point to each piece of floor food one by one, and she would finish them off.
I feed my cat in a bowl for this reason. Still, she pushes much of the food to the far side of the bowl, where it apparently becomes inedible. When I pass by, I turn the bowl around and she returns to eating.

Yea I feed mine in a bowl, but he prefers to scoop it out and it gets everywhere.
