This was good. I know of these painters named except Neuman, Robert S. Googled Neumann and got some others as well. The problem with abstract, Abstract expressionist and anti-abstract expressionist is the paintings don’t translate to print. Seeing them in person can be, for some, very different. Seeing the paintings in a book or online doesn’t touch.
Also comparing a Jackson P. with a ‘J.P.’ look a like, there is a difference, there is a depth that the copy cats can’t achieve.
The names she checks were perpetrators of a massive practical joke on the snooty “Well, I understand it” critics, gallery owners, and collectors; “Let’s see if we can do something so stupid they’ll admit they’re clueless!”
It is the only logical explanation for abstract expressionism – but alas, is still influencing artists who weren’t in on the joke.

one thing for sure: that was too savage for my mind to digest

Surprising that the uneducated Agnes even heard of those abstractionists.

Doesn’t it take more than one person to canoodle?

I have boxes of works much like the paintings of all those artists, saved in my attic, and done when my 3 sons were in kindergarden…

My son the Auctioneer says “Ugly sells”. and he’s usually right. Maybe this time Agnes will succeed.

Come to think of it, I’d like to be a little too heavy on the savagery of de Kooning.

Agnes’ apparent knowledge of art surprises me — usually her imaginative endeavors have little connection to reality.
