Baby dump this dude. Come to my house. I’ll fix YOU dinner and then we can enjoy dessert together. Maybe with a little chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
I love the way these posts take on a life of their own. When I started with GoComics, I had no idea this was going to be so much fun. Thanks, everybody!
Well John as tempted as I may be. Since I have married the love of my life, my lecherous ways are reserved for comments and not action. Though I will always be a horn dog, I too, will always be loyal. Thanks though. My imagination is going wild.
Sandboil, thanks very much for the link (below.) I wasn’t aware that Frog Applause creator Teresa Dowlatshahi has been having problems with “stalkerly” fan behavior.
Obviously this is wrong, wrong, wrong.
And it bothers me that it was so bad that she now feels she has to remove any sexual reference from her comic.
Oops. I’ve got to go. I’ll try to log back on later today and respond to Ms. Dowlatshahi’s question about whether I’m having problems with the same sort of harassment. (The short answer, though, is no–mostly.)
Continuing my previous remarks: I have had a few experiences with fans which felt uncomfortably like I was being stalked. (People usually back off, though, once you tell them you’re married.)
But I’ve had absolutely no problems here on GoComics. People have been, well–really nice, amazingly funny and quite respectful.
I’ll admit, I have been surprised at how often people find unintended sexual angles in my comics. But if you do a series with lots of sexual overtones and tension, readers are bound to find sex–even when it’s not there.
But that’s just part of the fun.
And if some people do cross over the line of good taste–well, I assume their remarks will get deleted by the powers that be. So I don’t worry about it.
But I can see how the situation might be different for Teresa Dowlatshah who does Frog Applause.
Maybe being a woman creator makes a difference in how some nuts react to your comics. I don’t see why it should, but then–how many stalkers are rational?

Hey, Cleo. Since I don’t have any immediate plans to use this character, she’s available. Do you want me to pass your dinner invitation on to her?

Y’know, I crushed out on my fair share of cartoon characters in my day, but the drool level in some of these comments pages really has me wondering…
