As a kid growing up I absolutely hated when my mom would buy me a new pair of jeans and ruin them with those iron on knee patches before I even wore them and then….THEN! Yell at me when I got grass stains on them!
My children thanked me for giving them the belief in their own potential so they could leave the nest with courage and confidence. Best gift a mother can get for any occasion, but especially touching today.
Yeah, you do. I was born in 1951 and my mother constantly told me to turn off the lights when not in use and to be ready on time. Even now at 73, I compulsively turn off lights if I’m not using them (Oh! And never leave faucets running) and become anxious if I think I’m going to be late. Thanks, mom!!

That’s usually dads’ advice, but whatever.

Mom always gave us the best life lessons. My favorite was “don’t sing at the table, you’ll get a crazy husband/wife!” She is missed.

I’ll do something and then think ’that’s how mom would want me to do it.’ It happens every day!
