We had one well into the 60s, IIRC. My parents couldn’t want to spend extra for touch-tone. The annoying thing was, it was cheaper for Ma Bell to switch to tt but people wanted it so they charged for it.
The rotary telephone we have in the basement has been on the wall since 1953. It has a paper sticker on the dial when we first got our area code. The digital phone we had on the first floor crapped out. So, I re-installed our green rotary phone (from 1980s?) there. I love it. We also have a modern Panasonic digital land-line phone with three extensions that is wonderful. Best Buy has good stuff.

When we moved to Colorado in 1966, we benefited from the technology. Touch tone phones, cable TV, more than 3 broadcast stations, etc…

I’d like to have the first 10 months of 1957 back. They were pretty good.
