I built our house and installed central vacuum for our allergies. The exhaust goes outside and the motor and bag are in the attic. Inside it’s just the hose. You have to slide the pets out of the way with the vacuum head. They don’t care at all. The cat wants to roll with it. The pug is like Hey! I’m sleeping here, go around.
My now departed brothers Tom Jr. and Comet loved to be vacuumed. Put the upholstery brush on it and “pet” with it…back, sides, and even the tummy. Belle (my profile picture) was kind of indifferent to them, she would just lay on her cat tree and watch. Miss them all.

I call my Dyson stick vacuum “The Dragon”. My girls hiss at it even when it’s not switched on.
