Or one’s children, if you want to get right down to it.

What would a hail of biscuits feel like? I guess I know where the Purplie sage comes in – it’s the aftermath of the hail of biscuits.

After the filming, he finds out that he is now always going to be purple. The dye won’t wash off.

    Hullo all….

Tonight we’re at Kyle and Geraldine’s, to admire the great poster Stel did

on the Sept 27th  2018 “CLEO and COMPANY”

    It’s on Sherpa:

    http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy

I love the blue and purplie shadows, and the soft sweet eyes.

And yes, a hail of biscuits is so much better than a hail of …um…. well… hail…..

and especially better than a hail of bullets….

as in so many westerns, and even, I believe, in the human version of this one.

Doggy actors should NOT be allowed to play with bullets…. not even blanks….

though we all know one dog who breaks that (and almost every other) rule.

Anyhow, I remember finding a mystery, when this ran before… and it deepened when I searched later.

    I found a human poster…. from 1925… maybe….

But not only is this fellow no basset…

I think he’s also no Tom Mix!

    https://img.tviso.com/ES/poster/w430/bb/ab/bbab68785ca184400647bb90e6ec3727.jpg

When I search for it, I also find this:

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r-WNnaHnVf0/VDgZpqt1diI/AAAAAAAAOn4/v4KrXfdeK-8/s1600/1933%2Bsilent%2Bmen.jpg

Which turns out to be from 1933, and a different human actor!

OK, … in 1933, they “borrowed” Tom Mix’s 1925 poster, for a new Tim McCoy western…..

But later I realised… that’s NOT the Tom Mix I remember on collectibles.

    So I found him:

    http://www.spiritofthebear.com/Tom%20Mix/08%20Tom%20portrate.JPG

And here’s … um.. the “real McCoy” ….(Tim):

    http://img5.bdbphotos.com/images/orig/c/8/c8z8sn1hoyissih.jpg?djet1p5k

So how did they copy a poster, in 1925 from a movie that wouldn’t be made for another 8 years???

Meanwhile, Geraldine says don’t be afraid of Stubby….

but I think I’m leaving my shoes in my car…. and my purse at home.

That picture of Tim McCoy worked for me through a couple of page refreshes… but now I can’t see it….

In case it’s not working for you when you get here…. try this one:

    http://parkcountylibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/wee-Tim-McCoy-cowboy-actor.jpg

    But my….

Tom Mixbasset was a handsome fellow…

    better looking than either human.

    And with much longer ears.

Stel, you have outdone yourself today (I mean last June)! This is one terrific poster, with all the shading you associate with a good black and white film! (Um, I mean Purplie and White film.) And, his hat is cocked to one side making him a good guy (or is that a cocky guy).

Very Nice! I’ll have to write this up in the Mountain Gossip.

    The Beverly Hillbillies

    (Season 1, Episode 1)

Jed Clampett: [while asking about Beverly Hills] Is ’Tom Mix there?

John Brewster: No, I’m afraid Tom Mix is dead.

Jed Clampett: Oh yeah, what’s the matter with me. Remember Pearl, he got shot at the end of that picture.
