It’s days like these (70 degrees F and sunny) that I’m glad I’m retired. Still like being married. Kids are gone and my wife and I can do what we want together or apart.
I’ve had such a moment. A job came along months later but those moments of my keen awareness of quiet simplicity and bonding spent with my little dog were precious and have stayed with me long after her passing. I understood then and now what truly is important.
