Davey Crockett the Second! (But they needed him [DC 1] at The Alamo). I’m Fess’n up, DC was popular when I was in High School (? your Middle School, before College).
The magic word for our dogs was “go.” Any time I said it, the dogs would race to the garage door ready to climb into the car and take a ride. Sometimes I’d cave and drive them around the neighborhood,.
I think Rob Harrell keeps forgetting whether Gumbo is a girl or a boy. He referred to the dog as he in the April 30th comic and as she most of the times before. Probably from a lack of using her/him in a comic!
We had a peke-a-poo who if she heard keys, would race to the door, squeeze her way out and then squeeze her way into the car; it was impossible to get into the car without her. And just a short trip around the block wasn’t long enough; it had to be minimum 2-3 trips. Funny dog.
Mine now react to the “w word” even when we spell it, or if we say “go for a you know what”. I have to suggest to my wife that we go for a “mosey” or a “perambulation”, and they’re starting to catch on to those too.

I can understand why she’d get excited, they keep her locked in the basement.

cats are better – they never get excited… well, unless you have a laser pointer

Even my cat knows that word. She’s really into going for walks even though she has a cat flap and can go out whenever she wants.

My mini Aussie gets excited when the word Mail is mentioned. It means a walk to the mailbox and a run through the woods for him.
