…speaking of “jumping through hoops”, I recall a certain student-teacher basketball game some years back……when it looked like the faculty was on the verge of winning, some panic ensued on the part of the student players. Nate hollered at his team mates"NO! It’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings!!" Seconds later, Mrs. Godfrey’s sinking an easy two from center court to cinch the game for the faculty, and Mrs. Godfrey sings “Nah nah NAH NAH, Nah nah NAH NAAAHHH, hey, HEEEEEYYYYY!” in Nate’s face.

My elementary and high schools had student-teacher basketball games. I did play-by-play every year from second grade on. (I don’t remember the first year I swiped the microphone.) In twelfth grade, I was offered to be the announcer for the junior and varsity teams but I turned it down because I didn’t want to have anything to do with school outside school hours. I’ve often wondered about it, though.
