Smart move, Joe… I mean, who wants to get shot over a trash can?

Going home? Not follow and arrest? Caught in the act of a crime and ignored? Even if you are off duty you could call for backup. What kind of cop are you, Joe? Very disappointing.

I’m with Joe on this one; go back while on duty, and don’t risk your personal vehicle!

Who would steal a trash can? A gang of raccoons?

A PIT Maneuver (short for precision immobilization technique) is used by law enforcement to stop a fleeing vehicle. The rear side of the vehicle is “tapped” causing it to spin, often 180 degrees, disorienting the driver and immobilizing the vehicle. Some police agencies are now using vehicles with Grappler bumpers that discharge a net underneath the rear tires of a fleeing vehicle to snare it. That is SO MUCH FUN to watch!

“You’re a cop.” Yep. Good dialogue.

Pit maneuvers look really cool, but it’s kind of a weapon of last resort because you would almost inevitably damage both cars and in a worst case scenario cause a car to flip. Also you would NEVER do one in a busy surface street in the city because of the extreme risk of collateral damage.

Let the thief get back to his home. He probably has other stolen items there and the police can arrest him for bigger charges.

That’s hilarious! No, we don’t do PIT maneuvers over stolen trash cans (especially with my personal car).
