That used to be true in some school districts in Utah. Take the final and get an A, and you didn’t have to attend that class all year. That changed during my senior year after I passed 3 of my final exams at the start of the year.
Mallett tends to drag out the school year (and start it early) because, of course, this strip is about a school. Maybe he should bring back the summer softball teams; that would fill in some of the time nicely. Always loved Frazz’s choice of names for his team: The Fighting Martha Stewarts. (Not allowed to actually use it, of course, but it’s fun.)

“Where”?? May 31 is a place??? Correct is “on which.” Caulfooled isn’t as smart as he pretends to be. (Duh)

Pondering is among the best fun one can have. Why SKIP it just because you’re good at it?

Down south, most schools are done by Memorial Day. However, they go back to school in early August.
