People seem to like to forget that HAMAS started this war when they MASSACRED women, babies and children in October. Had they not done such a vile thing, there’d have been no war.
I do wish President Biden would pause all assistance until Bibi either toes the line or is forced out of office. I really don’t appreciate my tax dollars are being used to kill children and other civilians.
They crossed my red line a long time ago, while their primary purpose may be to defeat Hamas, a very strong secondary purpose is to destroy Gaza and Palestinians. They are using bombs, tanks, hunger as weapons of war against civilians.
It’s the old argument that “guns don’t kill people” – people kill people" – the argument that EVERY weapons manufacturer uses to justify the manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction…
Israel has more money. Hamas would love to be able to do the same things. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think there are any good guys in this conflict. Both sets of leaders have the same thing in mind, complete eradication of the other side.
It’s a good idea to learn about subsetting and supersetting. Some members — not all — of certain groups are extremists. If you’re going to criticize them for their extremism (and they totally deserve it), don’t paint with too broad a brush.
The political reality is that civilian populaces tend to rally behind a nation’s leadership when the country is subjected to a surprise attack. In US history, that’s led to “Remember the Maine”, “Remember Pearl Harbor”, and the highest presidential approval rating in half a century for George W. Bush after 9/11. Binyamin Netanyahu — indicted as a criminal in Israel — is painfully aware that he’d probably be standing trial if he weren’t prime minister. It’s an open question whether he was aware that the Oct. 7 attack from Hamas might’ve been coming but just didn’t do anything to prevent it in order that Israelis would rally behind him. And, of course, he’s vigorously pursuing the war of extermination against Hamas on the theory that “you don’t switch horses in midstream”.
So, much like Trump in this country, his personal legal jeopardy is driving his public agenda. Basically it’s “Vote for me so I won’t have to go to prison.”
Headlines today (Saturday June 8) trumpeted the rescue of 4 Israeli hostages at the cost of “only” 200 Palestinian lives. Didn’t say “200 Hamas militants”, so you can probably bet that a non-trivial number of them were innocent bystanders.

President Biden’s “red line” is as effective as Mr. Obama’s “red line” was with Syria. Or his own “red line” was with Russia and Ukraine.

America has to stop supporting Israel. If we don’t all of the “Jews control the world” crackpots will start getting, I dunno more crazy?

The problem is the “military-industrial complex”. They need war to keep the $$ rolling in. Ukraine isn’t enough. And Bibi is a psychopath.
