One Halloween, a friend and I dressed as hobos. We both borrowed a tie from our dads. Mine was great — loud red, yellow, and blue zigzag pattern.. hey, I was 11 or so and it was the early 70s. Mine was a clip-on and I lost it somewhere through trick-or-treating. We tried to find it, but could not. I felt so bad when I went home and told my mom I’d lost the tie of Daddy’s that she had loaned me. Her reaction was priceless. “Oh, good! I was hoping for something like that to happen! That tie was awful.”
