i live in some environment where ANYTHING that grows from the ground is welcome (because we barely see any, and barely any survives) – I’d welcome weeds with open arms

Try living in the Pacific Northwest on the west side of the Cascades. Weeds grow here but by summer are locked into clay soil that has dried up harder than a stone. With thousands to go, better look to make up a weed killer.

1 cup lemon juice + 1 cup vinegar + 1 gallon of water

Start spraying weeds directly. You might need to do it daily for a bit.

You could try planting native prairie. Nowadays there are a lot of books and articles on how to do it. Just be sure to get your seed and plants from a real prairie supplier local to about 150 miles and not the “wildflower mix” sold in stores; those are generally a mix of plants not necessarily meant for your local conditions and sometimes even contain invasives.

I am still trying to remove English ivy, from my front yard, that was planted in the 1950’s…did I mention it’s going to be hot humid and stormy, today! (Queens, NY!)

Xeriscaping often means only the really tenacious plants (weeds) survive.

We live in a 55+ neighborhood with a rock yard. I thought ~ Great! No more yard work! Hah! Those pesky weeds manage to grow right through the weed barrier and the rocks and no water!!!

Love the natural products to take care of weeds. Thank goodness I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Our grounds where I live a groomed daily by crews. It’s not called “The Park” for just anything :-) Public Announcement here….If you or a loved one ever used Roundup to kill weeds, then, even after years, experienced cancer, you or they, are entitled to a cash benefit.

Weeds are good at holding the soil in place. Grass is a nuisance! Pull up the grass and let the weeds grow and you’ll never mow again!

And this is the reason I’m considering removing my front lawn and replacing it with a rock garden.
