On the plus side, spending the Summer in the Hospital and a body cast might beat out staying in the construction zone.

Learning to take a fall + some protective gear might go a long way here.

Just had a flashback to my feral childhood in the 1950’s with the ancestor of the skateboard…clamp on metal roller skates. You had hard soled Oxford shoes and the skates had two slide adjustable clamps with a hex tool to tighten the bolts. They would loosen with use so you had to remember to keep the tool on your person, usually on a string around your neck. Sometimes, well actually often, a skate would separate from a shoe causing a spectacular fall especially on a downhill run. During a race it could cause a multi-child pileup. Next stop was the nearest Mom and her bottle of mercurachrome antiseptic and box of bandaids. Yep, the antiseptic, now banned, was actually made with mercury plus the bandaids then were decidedly not ouchless to remove. Fun times!

If there is such a thing in skateboarding, that’s more of an ER than an ouchie.
