A rerun! I’ve only seen it once before on Monty, unlike so many other strips there’s never repeats! Idk how Meddick does it, decades of strips, all new, he’s the best! (July 1, 2019 idky but I can’t get a link to work even if I change it and I’m too tired to figure it out right now sorry)

Somebody back in 2019 commented that he’s using a sexton, which should be useless with city lights blocking out the stars. According to Gerry Rafferty, he would be ok since he would be using the “Northern star, The brightest light that shines”…(which is wrong, the Northern Star is NOT the brightest star in the sky).

Moondog is right, they ARE early….like 4 days early.

This reminds me of Sheldon from Big Bang finding the perfect seat in the movie theater.

I thought I found the perfect spot to see the top of the hill where I thought the fireworks would originate. Turns out, they shoot them off halfway up the hill and I had to move to get a good view because of tall trees.

He’s forgotten to factor in parking and car placement!

The calendar position is the same as it was in 2019. It will repeat like this in 2030.

Best firework show I’ve seen was at a Sod Poodles game in Amarillo, TX. The Sod Poodles won.

There is a town park near my home that has a great view of their fireworks while being far enough away to dampen the sound blasts. You can also get distant views of fireworks shows in some of the nearby towns before the main show starts. After it ends, you can usually turn around and see some of the higher shots from the city display on the other side of the ridge line.

I didn’t know Monty was Canadian. When I lived in Vancouver, they always had great fireworks on the first for Canada Day. (Monty said for tonight’s fireworks – and did when this strip was originally issued on July 1, 2019.)
