They canceled our local fireworks show as the city decided instead to donate the funds to our neighboring town that just went thru a terrible forest fire immediately followed by severe flooding! No doubt a better use for the money, it’s always a good idea to try to be good neighbors
Went to a show once and the conditions were such that the smoke was held down and didn’t blow away. A little more than halfway through you could hardly see the blasts
Years ago, some friends and I went downtown to watch the 4th of July fireworks in Maine. On the 4th of July. It was so cold, most people there were in winter coats including me. At least it wasn’t snowing.
The shows here will go on, but with temps in triple digits and humidity in single digits, the danger is fire caused by the usual morons with their own illegal fireworks.
On the coast, people bet that the fog will be high enough that the fireworks will still be visible. Otherwise it is like watching colored lightning in the clouds.

Might as well pop open the beers now.

I wasn’t actually planning to see our local fireworks, but it looks as if we may get rain too.

They just did something similar to this for a fireworks display/celebration around here (on the Mississippi River).
Because of flooding, “Red, White, and Boom” in the Quad Cities is rescheduled for Saturday September 7th.

Here in northernmost Maine, it’s raining. Hopefully, it will clear up by tonight.

Once again, Monty’s best laid plans fall flat.

It often rains on the 4th I’ve noticed, and with the fireworks (though again prohibited) it may be just as well.
