Floridian homeowners already pay four times the national average for home insurance, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, and more than a dozen insurance companies have left the state or declared insolvency since 2019. Farmers Insurance stopped covering Florida and major insurers have not renewed policies for high-risk homes. They also pay the third-highest car insurance in the country, behind Louisiana and New York.
The News-Journal describes it as an “insurance meltdown.”
Oh, and by the way, there’s a higher-than-average hurricane season predicted…
If you look at most major American cities, note how many of the tallest buildings are owned by or were built by insurance companies.
Most the the policies were for old sick animals. Owners want to treat them like people and demand all sorts of expensive procedures to extend the life of the animal when the right thing to do is put them down.
They are not humans. But even for humans some say we should not spend as much as we do to extend life after age 75 or so. Better to spend scarce resources on the younger folks.
That’s why Long Term Care insurance was cancelled/dropped-seems the actuaries didn’t calculate how much dough they’d be paying out as opposed to taking in-I’m blessed that my insurance company DID NOT drop existing customers so,thank God,I’m still covered…….

You might consider Nationwide’s action when it comes time for you to renew your insurance.

Too many Frenchies out there. Those things are an inbred hot mess that have kept the Veterinarians busy.

If the coverage is canceled, then all of the premiums paid should be refunded.

In most other developed countries, it is not. Somehow, some time, the U.S. became a country for hoarders of the green stuff.

Well, of course they are not making ‘enough’ money.
There is no such thing as ‘enough money’ for any corporation.
