Fossil fuels — you mean the stuff that creates killing levels of air pollution in some places? That stuff? Yeah, deniers, that stuff has killed more people than any windmills.
And fossil fuels make lots of money, too. You can bet that the shills for fossils make more money from that industry than a university professor gets from government grants.
Lets look at a statements by Richard Lindzen, an expert on atmospheric dynamics (I have his book on the subject),
October 2018: “Warming of any significance ceased about 20 years ago,” Lindzen claimed in a lecture at the Global Warming Policy Foundation.
Uh, no RL, not true. From Jan 1998 to Dec 2023, the global temperature anomaly went up by a about 0.5C. That’s a global average, and we aren’t talking about weather.
There are others like Lindzen who have been wrong about developments. 12 years ago, posters here were saying that global warming had stalled. I pointed out then, as now, that global includes the ocean, and the oceans were still warming in 2012. And even more rapidly at the moment. Measured data, not prediction.
It doesn’t matter whether they’re imbeciles or lunatics, because of Trump is elected there will be no further mitigation efforts and we’ll just have to live through it as best we can.
