Mike only misses his sister because he wants to have a fight with her. Michael and Elizabeth have gotten into a lot of physical battles over the years; but you would think after Michael got older, he might miss his sister for some other reason.
I have a friend who is a very successful novelist. He and his wife live in a large converted New England farmhouse that was always filled with the noisy chaos of his six kids, assorted dogs, cats, and sundry pets. He told me that the only time he couldn’t write was when he was completely alone and the house was absolutely quiet. Thankfully, for his many fans and readers, his rambunctious hoard of grandchildren are frequently there to inspire him.
Not exactly on topic, but since it just now happened and fits with this somewhat: my 17 year old grandson just came home from the barber shop, where he had his hair cut down from about 14 inches to about two inches. It is combed back and looks great! He is pleased with the hair he has left and the hair that was cut off is rubber-banded and will be sent to Locks of Love to be made into a hairpiece that will make life less traumatic for a youngster who has experienced sudden hair loss (his idea!)
It makes me teary-eyed to see how far he has come in the past year or so. A few years ago he learned he had a rare (2 to 5 per 100,000 adolescents) parathyroid tumor that was producing his sudden outbursts of homicidal rage that stopped even more suddenly than they began, leaving the poor guy bewildered. I had never even heard of our parathyroid glands! I found and forwarded to his mother a case report (below) and she said it sounded exactly like him. It took about two years to schedule surgery but it made his life normal almost overnight. Since the parathyroid glands control the calcium level in the blood – taking it from bones if necessary – it has taken most of a year for his bones to recover.

Go pick a fight with your girlfriend. She needs to be out of the picture, so that you can go back to University and eventually meet your wife.

Don’t startle the young dog like that —you’ll scare 10 years of growth out of him ! ! ! !

Mike can’t think without distraction around him. And Edgar isn’t helping by sleep next to him.

Ha ha Michael “be careful what you wish for” is a wise old adage aptly applied in this situation.

Ahhh, he’s identified his muse! A critical phase in the development of a writer. ;-)

Or Michael could write a rap song!
You know parents are the same
Every time and place
They ain’t gonna understand us kids
Will make some mistakes
So to all the kids across the land
No need to argue
Parents just don’t understand
I remember one year
I came home from college with a beard
My mom nagged me to shave
She said I looked like a Confederate soldier
You know, those who put the Yankees in the grave
I begged her to leave me alone and stop
But I was a date at the barbershop
Zip, zap my beard was shelved
I now look like I’m twelve!
So to all you kids across the land
No need to argue parents just don’t understand

I miss my sister too. We fought when we were younger but got along fine in our later years. Just like most siblings

Call Rhetta. She would make a good younger sister role model.
