There was a controversy about that here in Sweden just now. YouTuber Joanna André released a children’s book with AI pictures, and used really bad ones too. Misplaced shadows, re-used images instead of new ones for each pahg, too many fingers, character’s facial features changing between images… The general consensus was that even if she wanted to use AI, why use so lousy images?
The server farms used to power AI can also use incredible amounts of electricity and push the limits of the grid, requiring old coal plants that were supposed to be retired to continue, exacerbating climate change. And the server farms are very noisy.
