Darfur, the African region few know or care about. 200,000 dead, many. Christian, killed by nomadic Islamic tribes and the Sudanese Islamic government in Khartoum. Darfur is the scene of many atrocities and war crimes over the last 20 years. It is more complicated than one religion against another where various tribes of different cultures have been at war or are dthe victims of war. The genocide going on in Darfur dwarfs Gaza in comparison.
So what does the GOP think we should do? They were opposed to US involvement in Kosovo Religion is the problem whether it be Christian / Islam / Hindu.
Imagine there’s no countries / It isn’t hard to do / Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion, too
Yes, it’s impossible to care effectively for everything and difficult to choose in a world so filled with suffering. There are two basic approaches. One is to focus on things where you are directly involved, such as providing the means for the genocide. And another is to focus on close to home where the problem may expand to affect you directly. The former is the situation with Gaza, which we all know is highly partisan. This comic uses the childish “all or nothing” deflection. You can see the problems with it by applying it in other places. Don’t donate to that cause unless you donate to all causes. Don’t help your neighbor out unless you help everyone out. And worse, don’t care unless you care about everything. And I think that’s at the heart of this comic. Goodwyn doesn’t care about the Sudan or Gaza. This is simply partisanship
It is possible to care about more than one thing at a time. Wanting the bloodshed to end in Gaza does not mean not caring about the bloodshed in Darfur, and it’s quite disgusting to suggest so, Goodwyn. It’s rather telling that you only bring up Darfur as the latest means to attack pro-Palestinian protesters, so I wonder: did you even care about Darfur apart from its rhetorical value?
And yet your big concern seems to be that a trans woman is competing in sports. Wake me up when you MAGA types are protesting in front of the Sudanese Embassy.

Genocide is bad, no matter who’s doing it. We should oppose those doing it, or at the very least not materially support them.

Goodwyn again tries to justify genocide in Palestine.

It’s remarkable how many places that Christians of various ethnicity are persecuted and killed. And ignored. Darfur is just one of the worst.

You mean the thing the GOP ignores unless they need to criticize Democrats? That thing?

There is an exhaustion factor with news like that, seems like there is always something very bad going on in the world.

The sad truth is, nobody cares about Darfur because the people who live there are black.

When moral outrage is highly selective, it’s no longer moral, it’s politics.
