I went to a lot of meetings like that at work. Nothing was ever accomplished because we had to rehash the same thing the next month because someone important missed the previous meeting. Reminded me of my favorite Demotivational Poster: “Meetings! None of us is as dumb as all of us!”.

A preplanning meeting to discuss the planning meeting before the actual meeting. Sounds about right.
